I have been looking at dash restorations and noticed that it appears the no one replaces the A/C - Heat control panel. It seems strange to me to have so much of the dash upgraded, but still leave the old and unattractive control.

Is there no replacement available for that?

Bob

G'day,

My CRS is playing up! Who was it that gave a presentation at DuQuoin which
replaced the panel and vacuum operated valves / doors with a system that
used an updated system with electric servomotors out of a Chevy pickup truck
(I think)?

I think the C68 touch unit from the 80's G and B cars is the same control panel size. The trick setup would be to install that with the automatic thermostat control. I should look for donor units and as they are gettng hard to find. You would have do do some custom wiring loom stuff or adapt from the donor. What went bad on them was the solid state fan speed board that replaced our resistor setup. The water sat on top of the evap box and got in under the edges and caused corrosion. I think Caspers electronics does a repro on that though as well as ahs all the GM connectors as they do repro looms. I'll get with my Buick buddys that have done the swap and see how monsterous a project it would be to have C68.

Thanks Ken!

Here's Joe Ekl's email address if you want to contact him.

IIRC he did say something about making up a kit to do the job.
