The EMD E8 locomotive had only 2,250 hp engines. Later on the Pennsylvania
had some that peaked at 3,000 use in pulling the Broadway Limited. If you
don't know, Electo-Motive Division was a General Motors group.
Hey, wait, this isn't a train forum.
So, what kind of semi can handle V-24 engine? That thing must take up some
serious space and gulp a serious amount of fuel.

if anyone out there in gmc land is not familar with gmc/detroit 2-cycle diesels the v24/71 means 24 cylinders at 71 cubic inches per cylinder.........they (general motors) made 2-71s,3-71s, 4-71s,6-71s,6v71s,8v-71s,12v-71s,16v-71s,etc.........also made 53, 92, and 149 series most in the same configurations...there was the 16v149 in a super-sized monster dump truck so large that you could fit a dual engined terex scraper in sideways.....most of you know about the gmc scenicruiser(1954-1956)which has two 4-71s laying down almost sideways which never worked out and were updated in 1960 when the 8v-71 came out......some terex bulldozeers from the 50s actually had two 6-71s sitting side by side(before the 12v-71 was released)..........also a 6-110 experimental 2-cycle gmc diesel in the early 50s but did not carry the detroit diesel name..........somehow these 2-cycle diesels invented in 1938 were ahead of thier time just as our gmcs were ahead of their time.............
