Hi List,
I had an interesting experience this weekend while out in the coach. The closet door on my 77 Palm Beach came apart. The metal frame that apparently holds the door together started coming out from between the two sheets of laminate in the door. I was going to take it off the hinges and stow it until I got home but I couldn't see a way to get at the screws (without being able to open it past where it will hit the bed.)
I tried different ways of holding it together, but it came apart pretty fast so I went after it with panel bond adhesive and a couple of screws. That panel bond is pretty serious stuff and seems to hold but I set the door a little too high and now it hits the light in the hallway.
Can someone tell me how to take that door off?
What do you suggest for getting another door or finding a matching laminate to recover my door if I rebuilt it?
I can see the door to the head starting to lose it's outer cover. What are you guys doing to stop the damage?
Thanks,
Desmond

Squeeze it all together and put screws in the areas that are popping out. Like at the top where the two alum places meet.

GMC closet and bathroom door removal
Use a ratchetting offset Phillips screwdriver. They're about $10 - $15
at Harbor Freight. Real hardware stores have them also. They come with
removable Phillips, straight, etc. bits.
It's still a PITA, but it works. One person can remove the door. Bigger
PITA to re-install the door. That takes a minimum of 4 hands and two
mouths (for all the cuss words).

Hi Desmond,
I've got an extra closet door. Oddly enough, it came off our 77
Palm Beach.
Unfortunately, I'm in Ohio and your in Kalifornia. Not practical
to ship and
I doubt if anyone is going that way this time of the year.
Surely, someone
out there should have one. Keep asking. Lots of luck.
