I know Ken has a thread on this but I just want to remind folks that the FMCA convention is coming up in a couple of months. Won't it be cool to have about 35 GMCs all lined up out front to greet those big ole Sobs as they arrive? FMCA rallies are cheap compared to GMCMI too, about 1/3 since no meals. You will see everything that is available for the motorhome world at one of these shows. We might find a few items that we can convince the Jims to carry.
The GMCMI will come shortly after, over in the swamps of La. This will be a fun one. Have you ever watched Swamp People on tv? If so, we will be there where they film it.
Hope to see yall at one or both.
Dan

Dan,

I'm really surprised by your message, promoting attendance to the FMCA rally
with NO meals. No meals = NO ICE CREAM! ;-)

Have fun; wish Helen and I could be one of the 35!

LOL, for the savings I can buy my own Ice Cream Rob. Hope there will be many more than 35 coaches there but that is a good low figure to start with. I wish you and Helen were here to experience the FMCA gathering also. Why not scoot your plans up just a dab? then you can hit La. too.

Dan,

Thanks for reminding everyone -- we have to keep doing it right up
'til March. I just got a confirmation from one of our great friends,
probably prompted by your note.

I don't have all the details settled yet, but have been in
communication with the FMCA convention manager. Because of the cost,
and possible shortage of enough space for all of us, I suspect will
all be in "General Parking" ($155) -- that's NOT to imply that we'll
be scattered, just that we'll be restricted to running generators
during 7AM to 11PM, no water, no sewage (except for pump-out truck).
There are reportedly convenient dump stations for our use upon arrival
(the farm septic system probably won't hold all our tanks full) and
during our stay. For <1/2 the cost, General vs General w/Electric
($330) seems like a bargain.

Here's the registration link
http://fmca.com/conventions/perry-2011/3271 Read the notes at the
bottom of the page to better understand the information.

Right now, I'm thinking we'd be well advised to convoy into Perry on
Sunday 13 March. We can easily arrive early enough in the day to
avoid most of the crowd which will begin to arrive on that day.

Y'All All come! (For those poor deprived souls who don't understand,
that means "Ever' last one of Y'All is invited." :-)

Dan -
the price difference is really not just due to no meals. FMCA has a 3 night rally rather than a 6 night rally. If you want electricity at FMCA it is $360 for the three nights (but still without any sewer hookups) which actually makes it much more than the GMCMI 6 night price which has been running about $320 for six nights with full hookups including meals, ice cream and strawberry socials in the evenings and other things.

Your math is not at all right.

Dan,

GMCES is March 17-20. GMCMI in Louisiana starts April 16. That would give
you a month to head the ship in the other direction. North Georgia isn't
that far out of the way from Missouri - not as much as Arizona.

I didn't know anyone accused Dan of being a math wizard. However, we all
know what two things he does do well. ;>)

All y'all -- I forgot to add in my other reply that Martha and I are
planning to be present at the Georgia Family Reunion, as it's called. I
submitted a request to do a session on "So, What About the GMC MotorHome?"
Other than parking on the lot the best way to educate the masses is to hold
class inside the building.

One of you other daring types should put in a request, too.

If you think Georgia is in foreign territory then how about a try for
Indiana. FMCA¹s 2012 summer event will be held at the Indiana State
Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The dates for this will be Monday through
Thursday, July 2 - 5, 2012, with family parking days on Saturday and Sunday,
June 30 and July 1, 2012. This will be FMCA¹s first international convention
at this location. The last time FMCA met in Indiana was in 1991 at the
University of Notre Dame in South Bend. You've got time to think about it
and plan ahead.

I was at that Fmca convention. We had been a member for several years
(F10324) and went to several conventions before that one.

I was in my Travco and watched a hoard of GMCs enter the grounds with
their police escort. That was the very first GMCMI convention as the
club had just been formed prior to the convention.

Emery, my math was not off, I earned A's in math. Was just poor wording. Not complaining about anything.
Byron, I saw the Indiana email today. That might be more central for many folks. Maybe we can get a bunch of Eastern States' folks there that might not be able to attend Perry, Ga.

Unfortunately for those few motorhomers who aren't retired, FMCA does it's very best to make sure we are not involved in conventions. Short of taking several weeks off this spring just to hit FMCA, GMCES, and GMCMI, my wife and I have settled on ES. Just too hard to hit more than one.

Emery,
Now that's something Ken needs to work on for the trip from the farm
to the convention. POLICE ESCORT!!!! It would be good for one to be
leading us instead of chasing us for a change. <G>

Ken, maybe you can borrow one of Jimmy's black Suburbans with all the
lights AND submachine guns.

That would be a grand entrance everybody would notice!!!

Roger,

Next you'll be suggesting that I get Jimmy into GMCing to ensure that
we get those black Suburbans to escort us.

Did I tell you about the time I took friends to the farm, only to find
Jimmy & Rosalyn fishing there? They wouldn't stay, but we did. :-)

Remind me to tell you about trying to get him to teach me to fly fish.
