I have a 77 Palm Beach, interior 26-3 in this page
http://www.gmcmotorhome.com/faq/GMC26Interior.html (2 bunk davo, dinette
double bed, side facing double bed rear) steelcase version. I am about to
place an order for upholstery fabric and give it a go myself. Have a
commercial machine (sailrite) and have sewn some practice cushions as well
as Halloween costumes and sail repair over the years.

Are there any definitive or not-so-definitive measurements on the fabric
needed? I plan to measure tomorrow and allow for pattern match but hoping
that some on the list have made this crazy trip before and can say what
their experience was.

Thanks to the always helpful GMC community!
Mike

Mike, we got our fabric from New Toto.com. As I remember we bought 32 or 35
yards because that was what was on the bolt, and they made us a better price
if we bought the whole thing. Our dinette seats are fabric on the back as
well as the front in our 26' Royale and we also have bunk beds over twin
beds in the rear. We covered the captains and co-pilots chairs as well and
made skirts to hide the seat tracks. The fabric was random enough in the
pattern so that no exact matching was necessary, but we did use the woof and
warp directions all the same which might require a bit more fabric than just
using whichever piece was large enough to cover. I believe that it measured
out to be about 25 yards of 60" wide fabric. New Toto.com has free swatches
that they will send to you very promptly, and they have an enormous
selection of fabrics, their prices, even with the shipping are about 1/2 of
what you would expect to pay in a shop. Give them a look before you make
your choice. Our coach has been done for about 3 years and it still looks
and smells new inside. We would definitely use them again.

Thanks Jim... I am using New Toto. I have a selection of fabric swatches
and it is coming down to the wire with a 20% off until Dec 31. I have to
make a decision tomorrow.

For the dinette I allowed 1.5 yards per seat. For the couches I allowed 1.75
yards. The captains chairs were at 2.25 yards. I had fabric left over but
wasn't concerned with matching because I used the micro-suede fabric. By
"per person" I mean per seat. A dinette is 2 and a couch is 3. Captain's
chair is one, of course.

Thanks for those responding... here is what I came up with measuring our GM
configured, 77 palm beach 26-3.

I intend to upholster all the same locations as the original coach. So I am
doing the frames of the seats to the floor, all the way around even where
they are against the wall. I measured each panel to the welting, added 2
inches to each seam. Assuming a 56 inch wide upholstery fabric. No
additional was added for pattern match yet...

Front dinette seats: 115 inches, 3.2 yards
Davo Bunks: 154 inches, doubled to make the 84 inch wide (with a bit of
waste) = 8.5 yrds
Rear Settee seat: 114 inches, 3.2 yds including front
Back panel 3 peices, 2.5 yrds

3.2+3.2_8.5+3.2_3.2+2.8 = 24.1

This does not cover the wall panels in the front of the coach like oem. The
price was cheap at newtoto.com so we just ordered plenty extra. Will have
enough to cover the lower walls if we choose, or to recover worn seats in
the future.

Did you get a match for the original Palm Beach material and what is the material number you are using?

Sorry, no I didn't get a match for the original material. I have looked for
years for something close but haven't come up with anything.
