I have alcoas. However I really need a spare. I posted over a mth ago on the swap section but I didn't think I'd have much response which I totally understand.
Question is.... honestly I buy my parts from jimk and will continue. Right now however shelling out $300+ for one (Im sure the price is fair!) just isn't happening.
Does anyone know the part number for the actual alcoa so I can start googling used ones?
I'm not trying to step on toes, just trying to find a used one at the moment for the spare.

I know please forgive me Im a total newbie.
I don't mind a non-matching spare at all. But do they take the identical tires, and lug nuts? Do I need anything different to use it as a spare?

I would do what Tom said. Buy an Eagle wheel for the spare. No one will recognize the different finish as it is not that different. Don't rotate it if you don't have to. I do think different lugnuts will be needed but Jim can tell you that. I would not cover it, let it shine. My Alcoa spare is not covered and I do not rotate it either.
Forgot, it will take same tire.

I can care less if the finish is a bit different I just want a less expensive spare. Maybe the Eagle will be a good deal. I thought for some reason and again total newbie if I used alcoas I needed a alcoa spare. If alls it is a different finish and different lug nuts I'm not worried about that. Those eagles are less expensive if I recall correctly by a good amount.

Michael,
You could also use a 16 inch steel wheel -- look here to find id numbers.
http://gmcmotorhome.info/wheels.html
Or you could use a 16.5 inch wheel and tire for a spare.
Then you can wait patiently for a used Alcoa -- check the local Craigslist

The steel wheels seem pretty cheap! I may check into this Eagle I didn't know I could use them.

If you are going to cover it, why not use a steel wheel?
Other than having some nice bling on the back, the only advantage to having a matching wheel for a spare is to save on remounting costs when rotating out your spare tire. This cost could add up if you swap out two tires every two years.
I would watch ebay, craigslist and the like for something used that matches what you have. Until them use steel wheels... 16.5 if you have to.
Whatever spare rim you choose, make sure it really DOES fit. (I have seen many 16 inch steel wheels used as spares that will not clear our brakes.) Check both front and rear.
Also: Make sure you have enough of the correct lug nuts for each wheel type. (That is 8 per wheel... not the 3 for the spare mount.)

thats why I went with rockstars from KMC, cool looking wheel for not a lot of scratch, originally I wanted to go wih Alcoa's but for the price of alcoas, caps and nuts, I got rims nuts and tires mounted on rig and enough money saved to fill the tank 1 and a half times. Alcoas are a touch over priced, I think you pay a lot for the brand. Eagles look almost identical and are a 1/3 less...

NO!
Steel wheels, Alcoas, and Eagles all use different lug nuts. Get 8 lug nuts to match whatever spare you use.
Also the wrench size is larger on the Eagles than on the Alcoa.
I think the steel wheel and Alcoa use the same wrench but definitely torque to different specs.
The Aluminum Eagle and the Aluminum Alcoa torque to the same spec.

There is a set of new 7 Alcoas for sale on Craigslist Oregan Coast for $350
each wheel and I have informed the seller that he needs to revisit his price
as they are higher than what can be had for retail. Be interesting to see if
they are re priced and for what.

Has anybody ever stopped to think that the reason the
Alcoas have been discontinued is that their prices were
so high compared to available alternatives?

The PO installed the alocas so I had no out of pocket for them in a sense. I think maybe I'll just use the steel wheel as a spare.
I also need a lug wrench, and jack as this GMC has non of the above.
