I just bought my first GMC Motorhome and bought new Alcoa wheels for it. During the purchasing process I was told that Alcoa has discontinued the wheels for the GMC. I have contacted many wheel distributors, tire shops etc and no one has found a locking lug nut that will work for my application. Any suggestions?

Contact Jim Kanomata at Applied GMC 800-752-7502. He'll fix you up.

Hi

I think you are looking for a McGard 25500. If Applied GMC does not have
them you can Google 'mcgard 25500" and find a few online sources.

Hey john, welcome to our family. You have lots of brothers there in Tulsa. I am sure you have met them. If not, I bet Glyn will be in touch with you.
I am sure Jim at Applied will take care of you on the locks. I don't blame you for wanting them locked as expensive as they are but I just keep mine parked very close to me, most of the time. Or, I am living in it, like now.

Has any body EVER had any wheel, Alcoa or otherwise, stolen from their GMC?
I'd rather spend the money on gas(@3.16 per gal) and take a trip.

I have to park the motorhome in a storage and thought it might be wise to lock the wheels. Thanks for the help.

When I begin usling an Alcoa spare I believe I will make some provision for a locking lug (one of the three) or some other theft deterent.

Sure, here is a funny story about it:

A friend got 6 new tires installed but they wanted $7 each for
disposal of his old ones. He told them that he would dispose of them
himself. His uncle had a farm with a big ravine that they had been
using for years for tires and other junk.

So he went next door to a hardware store and bought some cheap rope
for $2.00.
He tied the tires (all cracked and ragged) to the rear of his GMC.

It was getting late and the sun had gone down and they decided to stop
at a resturant for dinner. When they got back to the motorhome they
discovered that someone had cut the rope and stole the tires.

I told him afterward that he should have filed a police report and put
in an insurance claim!

Yes, all seven of them.
Several years ago, my GMC was parked at a Tire Shop/Service location,
behind a security fence, and some lowlife stole it, and removed all the
wheels (and most everything else). The jerk also loaded the GMC and the
the shop's service truck with tires and goodies from the shop, which he
also stole.

However, I don't think locking lugnuts woulda helped any.

We have those locks, but I cannot seem to locate it now, but will
locate it over the weekend.
It is very long unit so I was not too excited to advertise it.

John,

Welcome to the Group/Cult/Assylum.

Did you:
Join GMCMI? You have to sign up with FMCA first, but it is well worth doing.
Maybe join a local or regional chapter - too?
Send a registration to Dave Greenberg ?
Sign on to the "Black list" to provide assistance to others?
(the last two can be accessed from <http://www.bdub.net/GMCLinks.html>)

You have already found that the JimK, JimB and Alex are the places to start looking for almost anything you might need.

And,
I come from a long line of waterman and there is a traditional greeting to a new vessel or owner that I paraphrase here because I feel the sentiment is appropriate;
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome John,

Matt
