I have had a Rostra cruise control unit installed for 4 years. All was fine until Friday's trip to a rally. I noticed that the factory tell tale light on the dash was flickering even though the cruise control was not engaged (nor turned on). It seems to be functioning normally, and I don't have a clue as to where to start looking for the source of power to the light. Sometimes the light stays on, as if the cruise control is engaged. Other times, it flickers, but it never stays off for any amount of time.
Andy and all suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Thanks

If I remember correctly, all the lights in the telltale are Hot & are "lit" by being grounded. If its coming on without the cruise being on or engaged you most likely have a Chaffed wire that is connecting to metal somewhere and completing the circuit. Another likely possibility is the foil circuit on the back of the telltale is coming loose and could be causing connection problems as well. Tracing the ground wire from the light to the cruise unit would probably be the best place to start.

Thanks for the input Paul. I didn't know if Duane Simmons followed the net postings so wrote to him directly. He wrote back with a way to check to see if it was the tell tale or something in the Rostra unit. It was the unit, but we seem to have resolved the issue there.
