Emboldened by my recent success with the header gasket, I'm digging into installing the JC4 aux vac pump that's been sitting in a box since buying it 9 mo ago. Funny how time slips by...
Anyway, can't seem to find 1/2" vac hose. NAPA doesn't carry it, and the helpful counter person called 3 other places in town and nada, other than buying a 100' roll. Uh, more than I need.
I'm trying to mount it hanging from the brake booster as such:

So first question, any idea where can I get a foot or so of 1/2" vac hose?
OTOH I've seen an alternative mounting on Gene Fisher's site:

where you just plug the pump directly into the booster. So now the second question: Can't figure out how to get the fitting off the booster. Don't want to pry and break something (like that never happens) and couldn't see any slots or clips or whatever.

Thanks. Yeah, at Jim Hupy's suggestion I called Baxter, and they didn't have 1/2" "vacuum hose", but they do have a "heater hose" that is 1/2" and is very thick wall and should work.
Also, JimK, no, I didn't tighten the offset bolt on the header flange. Got that clear from the net comments before I started. Thanks. :-)

I would be concerned about heater hose collapsing under vacuum. Anyone know if this is a problem?
If you can mount the JC4 pump directly into the booster, you shouldn't need to add much (if any) vacuum hose. The JC4 was designed to be used that way.

The "swivel fitting" on the booster is actually a check valve. There's just
a barbed fitting holding it in the grommet. Pull it straight out. May take
considerable force, barbed fittings being what they are, and the grommet
perhaps old and hardened. You may want to get a new grommet from the "Help"
rack at the parts store.

Jay, spray the connector with WD-40 & pull straight out on it. It takes a
pretty good pull, but don't bend it up & down or you might break it. New
ones are available.

If you need some 1/2" vac hose, I can cut you off some and send it to you n/c.
Lookn it this way, as a major repair shop, we inventory these slow
moving parts that parts place refuse to stock.
We supply lot of people with basic parts that are not stocked by
majority of the parts houses.

There are lots of systems on the GMC that might not be ----up to DOT,---legal ---- etc.

disk brakes

these decisions,and others are your decision to implement, but, they are a way of life for the GMC.

When Libby Dole was Sec of Trans, the vast majority of regulations were rewritten to be minimum standards only. So:
- A vacuum booster pump is not covered at all
- Upgrading brakes is not an issue as long as DOT spec parts are used in the actual brake systems
- Parking Brakes are required in most states, but if there is no vehicle inspection required, who will know? (These have not been an emergency brake for decades.)
- Suspension components again have only minimum standards
- Neutral Safety Switches were include in automatic transmission vehicles long before any DOT or NVSS rules and now they are many other types of interlocks included ahead of standards
- Smog compliance is EPA not DOT or overruled by state regs. Only California is so S-Brain Stupid to not allow passage of systems that improve on the original without jumping a room full of flaming hoops.
- Tinted windows is only an issue if you tint the cab windows. Legally - everything behind the cab is house and the tinted window rules for vehicles do not apply.
The vast majority of changes we might make to our coaches are not covered by anything other than our own interest in self preservation. If there was any way I could afford the cost, I would fit my coach with all wheel anti-lock disk brakes tomorrow.
