I maybe doing something wrong but it seems as if you have a topic going and the thread starts splitting up. Its really hard to track one topic sometimes. Am I doing something wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong.

The problem occurs because some of the email users email programs do not preserve the integrity of the posting message number. When that happens you get a busted thread. Emailers do not have any threading at all so they do not realize that there is a problem.

Live with it. That is all you can do.

Or you can get everyone to use the web based forum...

I don't think that will happen...

Live with it.

I am an emailer and my program can do threads.
I don't use it, but I have could.

I've tried the forum when the email server crashed - my personal opinion
- POSA. With email i get online for a few minutes and D/L all the new
emails and go through them as I have time. I can't spend hours on the
net trying to read the new emails.
If email ever goes away so do I - it is not worth my while to have to
try and deal with the forum. Of course, I've only be dealing with PCs
since the early '80s and left got rid of MS software 5 years ago
returning to unix.

When I first started using the net, I used e-mail only. I found that I was splitting threads which made it harder for me (and everybody else) to follow the topic. I then realised that didn't happen on the forum. I like to read the e-mail digest and, if I have anything to say, respond on the forum. It is easy to go through the messages that way, yet the threads remain in tact by opening another tab and switching to the forum to answer.

Ok no problem, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing.
