Was wondering, I've seen and heard about these rear bogie greasers. Am I missing something? My rear has (2) grease fittings per side that are prob the easiest grease fittings in the world to grease. The are located in a spot so easy to get to that Im not sure why you'd need something special to grease them. Am I mistaken about something?

Michael, there are actually 4 zerk fittings per side, two in plain sight and
two in the inside of the bogie boxes. What the aftermarket greasers do is to
grease the inside bushings by means of an extension tube that is fitted
tightly into the bore where the outside zerk screws in. If you have an early
73 coach with the small diameter pins, the bored hole doesen't go through
all the way and the aftermarket greasers won't work on them. There are some
fixes for this but the best is to replace the small pin setup with the
larger diameter pins. Kinda $$$ though, if your pins and bushings are in
good shape, I would personally wear them out before changing them. Just what
I would do.

1) Unless your pins have been changed, the boggie greasers will not help with 1973 pins. The internal passages are different.
2) The newer, larger, pins have internal passages to supply grease to both bushings. These internal passages are fed by the single grease zerk on each pin. If grease has hardened in on side, all the grease applied will go to one side... never greasing one of the bushings. Boogie greasers provide one grease zerk for each bushing.

There are no 4 on one side, just 2.
The purpose of the greaser is to increase the chance of grease being
delivered to the rear area of the pin.
If you have a 73-74, there is no use in using the greaser as there is
only one hole in the center to supply the grease to both bushings.
75-78 has 2 holes , one at the rear and the other for the front.

I had a guy from Texas tried to purchase one only.
I looked at him and asked why he wanted only one.
His reply was, that he would insert one then grease it and do the same to all 4.
I looked at him square in the eye and said " are you an Oriental?" He
did not catch it at first but the several other people at our booth
started laughing.
Even I have 4 on my coach, and I art an Ornamental. Do not twist me
around and around as I might get dis Orient.

I just kept pumping grease untill all the old crap pushed out the fron and back, figured it got it good, and I got alot of old crap out. I did it with the coach at normal ride and on the ground, does jacking it up really make that big of a difference if you have the early 73-74 pins?

So let me get this straight. On my 1973 I don't need the grease tool. Got that.
However did I need to grease the back zerk fitting or only the (2) zerks on each side I can see?

Ok, this is GMC for Dummies...! And Im a Dummy! LOL
On my 1973 I have no backside zerks. However I should removed the two on each front side and remove as much of the old grease as possible. Then relube.
