Winterized the GMC and covered with a huge tarp last weekend. A wind storm blew through here yesterday and tore the tarp right off the coach. I did notice that I am the only tarp in the storage yard as everyone else has a nice rv cover.

Question: Has anyone purchased an RV cover for their GMC, 26 ft? I did a search on this net and didn't find an answer. I live in Michigan and experience all the seasons. Mostly concerned with water leaks.

Camping world has rv covers on sale with free shipping right now. Has anyone purchased one and if so, what dimension did you use to order. Or, if there are other sources for covers I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I tried the cover thing and all of the stuff on the roof kept poking through until it was shredded. Add to that the hazard of putting it on and off and how it encouraged me not to drive it, I bagged the whole cover idea.

Go see it regularly, broom off the snow (I'd use a truck wash brush with very soft bristles) and if you can hook it up to a block heater for a few hours prior, drive it around a little on the few dry days you get up there in the winter.

In my experience you were lucky. A cheap tarp will wear on your paint and make some ugly spots on the corners. If you are going to cover the beast you should consider a lined type cover which will be expensive and will still get destroyed in a couple of years in a windy environment. You probably want one with an access panel into the coach. This will be expensive. I have a decent cover from the FIL, but because of the lack of an access panel and needing to take off the radio antennae I have never used it.
The alternative would be to get a tarp to cover just the roof and secure it well to try and keep out water. A good wax job and Rain-X on the glass will make clean up easier come springtime.

The Addco cover for travel trailers fits pretty well, and is often on sale at Camping World in the fall. Mine stayed on even through fairly rough winter winds, and didn't seem to damage the old finish too much (though it did do a nice job of buffing the corners of the coach). They did put zippered panels by the door area so you can get into the coach if necessary.

The main problem is putting it on and taking it off. I don't know if I'm going to bother as I think it probably is best to try to take it out for some exercize even if it's not a long trip.

My Adco covers works OK. Starting the third season. I put empty boxes in top
to help hold the cover up and keep the water from pooling. I also put an
empty box over the antenna and bend it gently (it's bent anyway). As
mentioned, the worst thing is getting it on and off and crawling around to
get the ropes across below the coach.
