Matt,
      My PO brazed a brass elbow in the cover of the final drive and attached a hose which went up and formed a loop. There is a make due "filter" on the end of the hose. Plenty of breathing and no dope loss. Easy and something to consider.

You must have a 3.21 unit.
They were giving dealers fits till they lowered the grease level by 1 1/2 inch.
