As I understand it, the add-on a/c unit is only part of the solution. I think
it requires quite a lot more parts, hoses, etc, plus refrigerant. I haven't
seen any real instructions though, so don't know how difficult it is.

Anybody gone this route? Can you give us a clue on how hard it is, or how
much more it costs above and beyond the vintage air unit??

> Welcome to the group! You are right about the dash air being "horrible" but there is a fix (I understand.) It's not stock, but the add-on A/C units, such as these from Jim K <http://www.appliedgmc.com/level.itml/icOid/944> will blow ice cubes - even in Arizona!

I'll probably install a Classic Air unit someday, but there are a few other upgrades in line ahead of it.
