We're leaving for 2 1/2 weeks, down 44 to 35. We've made this trip twice before and enjoy riding the Mc in and around the hill country area. Any suggestions on where to stay?? Pavement is a plus. 1st trip there were giant power lines right thru the camp site. Not very pretty. Wanted to go to southern AZ (Steves area) but the lows run on average 10 degrees cooler than S.Ant. We take a trip this time of year because our annaversary is the 1st. Plus we get to ride in the winter!!! We enjoy a few good resteraunts and since we are originaly from the best BBQ town ever,,,,,,,,,thanks,,PL

Paul,

Helen and I spent three days at the RV park below, it was one of the best
maintained, cleanest places we have ever stayed in. It was most convenient
because of the bus link into the city.

There's a rally this weekend at the campgrounds below:

It's a fair distance downtown but since your towing your bike you can ride
into town.

Dan, considered it alot and its tempting. But,,,,, its a 1000 more miles. Thats about 2 1/2 days more driving. She doesn't drive so its all me. Got to go back to work ya know. Only have a little over 2wks. Tempting. The weather service shows the average high about the same but the average low 10 degres less. Whats very tempting is the savings offered by one of the nicest and most generous guys down there. A free overnite spot. And we don't even hold it against him that he no longer owns a GMC, because he's such a great guy. I guess I could work and pay for the spot by sandblasting untill it warms up a little. Sure is tempting,,,,PL

Ok PAul. Here is what you need to look at, the elevation of where you want to park. IT is 3600 ft where Teri and I spend the first part of our winter. Gets cold at night and 75 by noon.
Down where Steve is, much lower elevation and warmer temps. I am assuming you are checking the Sierra Vista elevation for the temps. When we head west to Quartzsite it warms up by 10 plus degrees as soon as we hit the valley. Such a pleasant place to be in January, December, and or March , and February. We love it. You can not beat Steve's place for parking. We have stopped there a couple of times and had a blast.
The guy is just car crazy.

Paul,
We like visiting Kerrville, one of the best Mexican restaurants in Texas is
there. Buckhorn Lake RV resort, I-10 one exit W of Kerrville is a premier
place to stay. Usually, all the musicians get together at night at one of
the sites on the S. side of the park and jam as long as the beer
lasts. Many in the park go to listen. One night a week they show a free
movie, you'll like the place.
Nearby is Fredricksburg, the Chester Nimitz museum is an absolute must to
see, and the town, being all German, is a great place to stop for German
food and sightseeing. Don't forget to stop in Luckenbach and have a beer
(if you can find it).
