This is a continuation of the thread a from week or two ago on the blown
engine east of Indianapolis, just to give it some closure. The fellow's
name is John Smith, and he is from Oregon. He doesn't post yet, but I think
he will start posting as he seems pretty knowledgeable and could contribute
to this forum. Between he and his brother, they have 3 GMC's. I (Ray
Swartzendruber) was put in contact with him through this forum when I
answered a plea by Larry Dilk for an engine. In any case, after discussing
many options and possibilities, he had his coach towed up here (~150 miles)
to a mechanic friend near New Paris, IN. There they installed the original
130,000 mile engine from my coach which was removed to install a Paterson
engine. Yesterday we got it fired up after a few small hiccups, and it runs
like a champ. Hopefully it is good for another 2300 miles or so to get him
home. His coach is one I had seen pix of before and is yellow, black, and
white, with extensive fiberglas work to install stylish headlights and
taillights from some other vehicles. Jim Bounds did extensive work on it
somewhere along the line.

Ray,
Are there any photos of the fiberglass work? Just curious about learning from any styling options that owners have explored.

It's really heartwarming to hear such a story! It seems that GMC
owners do belong to a very nice family that is willing to go well out of it's way to help one another.
It's called paying it forward, and can only lead to good karma for all!

Well there you go again, Ray. Being the good guy and number one representative of the GMC community, in my humble opinion. It is good to have friends in every state and Indiana has a bushel of them. Again, Thanks from all of us.
