Hey All;
Are there any plans for any clubs to make it to the Quartzsite RV
SwapMeet this coming January? I know the 49ers and the Pacific
Cruisers clubs made it last year. PoohBear and I really enjoyed it,
and we're trying to make plans to be there again. Anybody got plans??

The New Year is a special rally, so the regular one is shown on my
callander for the weeekend of Jan.14-16.
In March 11-13, Grace and I are hosting one in Gilroy at the KOA
Campgrounds, so we want all to come.
We have not seen you for some time. Your travelling to much..

Gary,
The Saguaro Jetset has tentative plans for a Quartzsite get-together, in January, during the RV show. We will be discussing the details at next weekend's rally in Benson. There was talk of having a joint rally with the Pacific Cruisers, but no plans have been finalized as of yet. I'll try to keep you up to date.

Gary,
The RV show at Q is Jan. 22 - 30. The Pinal County (AZ) Bluegrass Festival is Jan 28 - 30. Kathy and I will be going to Quartzsite for my 'birthday trip' and might do the Bluegrass Festival on the trip home. The GMCSJ might do some sort of rally at both. Like I said, we will plan it out at the November rally.

What is the camping like at Quartzite?
Do most of the GMC'ers camp together?
Is it all dry camping? Where do thousands of RV's
all camp? How do clubs like 49'ers, Jet Setters
and others set aside a large enough area for all
their members?

Charles, I had the same questions as you do. I read forums for years trying to figure it out. Finally, I just told Teri that we were going to experience this once to see what it was all about. This will be our third year. I had no clue the first year so I hooked up with Solar Bob for a few days til I could figure things out. Then I met with the 49ers who were dry camping also. Then, we took off south 5 miles to a ham radio group for a week. There are full hookups in Quartzsite. Some of the GMC clubs hold their gatherings in the full hookup places. SOme of the members dry camp just south of the full hookups. I still am not sure why I love hugging the desert so much. Maybe it is the people. Teri and I have made some friends out there. We dry camp since we have the GMC set up for that. It is a blast. Last year I talked Ken Burton into driving out and we really enjoyed having him there. Teri and I will park with the radio operators again this winter. They camp in the free area. We are 5 miles from town and I go there a couple of times a day just looking around. We are experienced dry campers and can make a tank full of water last over a week. Then I haul it in with a couple of 5 gallon foldable jugs. We can last 2 weeks on a black tank. If we stay longer I have two 6 gallon gas jugs I pump into and dispose of.
Doug Norton and Carl Stoeffer parked with us last year. Many GMCers came by and we also visited with them in their various spots. My biggest surprise was when Fin B. rolled in to say hey.
We will be there whether any clubs meet or not. Believe me, there is plenty of room for everyone. Also, choclate candy is very cheap there. I love chocolate. the RV sales tent is there for a week but is of little interest to me. I make a run or two through it but prices are not normally too good. Some bargains might be had. I think addressed all of your questions. I just love spending time there. Solar works well so we need no generator. I take my little Kipor in case the sun don't shine but we have not had that problem yet, even with the storm last year, it was short lived.
Come hang out with us. I promise you will not regret it. Oh, if you dry camp, an on demand lp water heater is a very good thing.

You got a better commitment from me than I got out of you about coming to Blaine's.
I am seriously considering coming out here again. This time I will not be on a schedule that requires my return by a certain date. There also is one place I also want to visit in S. Kalifornia this year before I return.
You'll need to promise me that I will not run into snow this time like I did in Flagstaff last year.

Dan,
More questions.
Viewing the schedule of events on
http://www.desertusa.com/Cities/az/quartzsite.html
I am now wondering if one event is much better than another.
The GMC Classics are having their winter rally
Jan. 13 through the 16th. This is the same week as
Main event at Quartzite. Is there enough going on the
other weeks to justify the expense of a 2500 mile trip?
What kind of fees do you encounter dry camping verse
Full hook-ups?
Charles

Diana probably won't be going with me (still trying to talk her
into it), so I'll use a LOT less water and sewer. However, I typically
use a lot of power thanks to the MotoSat. I'm either going to try and
borrow one of the small generators or buy one so I can keep the
batteries up for the Internet and TV. Just don't need 6kw from the
Onan for those (everything runs off of a 750Watt inverter). I'm going
to try and take off for the whole month of Jan as my brother is having
a bunch of people at his new place for the days between Xmas and New
Years, and I want to hang around and play with them. I like the place
that we stayed at last year, and if I make it I'll see you there.
