Eastwood.com is currently offering free shipping on $50 orders or more. The ZDDP is available in a six pack for $59. That would cover 6 oil changes in any older vehicle. It can be added to Mobil 1 or any thing else. My 48 Ford tractor and Jimmy along with the Kingsley appreciate it. The old GL 1000 did too till I decided my old body didn't need any more after market parts.

Am I missing something? It is $9 a bottle if you buy separately or $10 a
bottle if you buy it in bulk?

Alan,

If you click on the link below it is $8.99 a bottle:

http://search.eastwood.com/search?w=zddp&p=Q&ts=custom&x=11&y=12

At $8.99 for a four ounce bottle you're paying $2.50 per ounce; compare that
to the price of the SFR-100 in the email I sent in earlier this year and
you'll see that's very expensive!

G’day,

Here’s some information on sources of ZDDP additives.

1) GM / Delco E.O.S.

Dosage: I can't find the dosage for a 5 quart oil change.

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&partnumber=EOS

GM PART # EOS 88862586
OUR PRICE: $12.17
Cost per Ounce: $0.76

http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance/809/88862586/10002/-1

GM Performance #809-88862586
Cam & Lifter Pre-Lube
16OZ $17.99 = $1.12 per ounce

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-88862586/

Price: $17.95
Cost per ounce: $1.12

2) ZDDPlus

Dosage: 1 four ounce bottle per 5-6 quart oil change.

http://www.davidnavone.com/zddplus.htm

Single 4oz Bottle of ZDDPlus $9.95 = $2.48 per ounce
Five - 4oz Bottle of ZDDPlus $47.50 = $2.37 per ounce

3) SFR-100

Dosage: 1 ounce per quart.

I bought a gallon of this stuff last year after I got the following
information from them:

QUESTION 1): Does SFR 100 contain ZDDP?
RESPONSE: Normal motor oil when it contained ZDDP averaged 300 ppm. SFR when
added at 3% or 1 ounce per quart of motor oil averages over 900 ppm. There
is over 30,000 ppm in SFR 100 concentrate.

QUESTION 2): How much SFR 100 should I add to 5 quarts of oil to get
1200-1400 PPM of ZDDP in oil that does not contain any ZDDP?
RESPONSE: I would add 1 1/2 ounces per quart or the recommended dosage for
first time use and 1 ounce per quart of motor oil with each and every oil
change.

QUESTION 3) Can I add too much SFR 100?
RESPONSE: You can use up to 10% or 3 ounces per quart. After that it is not
economical based on testing that we have run. You will get outstanding
results by using 1 1/2 ounces of SFR per quart of motor oil the first time,
and 1 ounce per quart of motor oil subsequent oil changes.

http://www.sfrcorp.com/product/sfr-100-petroleum-oil-fortifier

Size / SKU / Price
1 Quart Bottle / S34005 / $34.70 = $1.08 per ounce
1 Gallon Bottle with 1 oz. Pump / S34003 / $107.90 = $0.84 per ounce
5 Gallon Pail with 1 oz. Pump / S34002 / $467.00 =$0.72 per ounce

even stranger, according to this slide from Dick Patterson

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=34601&title=screenshot-1&cat=5141

ZDDP is only needed for the first 1500 miles on an engine rebuild, then go
to just syn.

Gene,
I was following Dick's advice after he rebuilt my engine, but I went to buy another jug of the Rotella T Syn he suggests and its no longer available, only whats in the supply chain.

The replacement is called T6 and it has CJ-4 and SM ratings so.. now what to do.

I was talking to Joe Mondello at Du Quoin and he recommends still having high ZDDP after break-in.

I talked to Dick Paterson and I decided to go the Amsoil route that way I know the ZDDP is correct and properly compatible and buying it by the case as a dealer is not that costly compared to buying ZDDP and adding it to other Synthetic oil because Dick highly recommends synthetic. Amsoil 10-w40 is zink 1365 and Phos. 1276 it costs me as a dealer $6.57 a qt plus shipping so you must add $1 or so for shipping. Not cheap for the good stuff and that is what Dick P. says about Amsoil its good. JWID

At the time that picture was taken both of those oils were CI-4+ rated. Since then the Dino Rotellla CI-4+ has run out and now the Rotella Synthetic CI-4+ is also no longer available.
