Anyone found a multifunction turn signal switch and arm that will fit into the original steering column?

Or an aftermarket one that fits?

This site has lots of arms listed:
http://monsterautoparts.com/OLDSMOBILE/Toronado/oldsmobile_toronado_steering_column_par.htm

Or maybe arm and switch in one that fits like this one:

I know I may have to make up some kind of interface to read a resistor ladder or decode a BCD switch but nothing that a small PLC or a $2.00 microprocessor can't handle.

I just want to avoid the whole column exchange.

You do not have to pull the column to change the turn signal switch.

Pull the wheel
Unplug the switch from the bottom.
Cut off the connector or remove the pins from the connector.
Tape a piece of string to the connector.
Remove the switch mounting screws and pull the switch out.
Attach the string to the new connector on the new switch.
Turn the connector so the long way is up against the cable.
Tape in place if necessary.
Pull the string and the cable down through the column.
Mount the switch and plug it in.
Remount the steering wheel and you are done.

Ken,
I'd like to change to a multifunction switch so I can have wiper, high/low beam etc, so wondering if there was a multi-function switch and arm that fits in the original column.

thanks

Bruce,

I've used a 79 Eldo and an 84 Seville to do the upgrade. Neither
of those had the delay electric wiper
switch, so I updated the 84 Seville with the switch and lever
from a 92 Safari van.

Bruce,

Got to www.GMCWipersEtc.com and download the manual for my electric wiper
kit. One of the appendices, 4, IIRC, contains step-by-step instructions
from Alan Hamilton for installing an AstroVan (or other) multifunction
switch.

Sir: They are rare but I saw one in John Sharps hand at DuQuoine. It was the late on-off, resume model cruise with the hole for the screw. I believe in order to get elec wipers, washers and dimmer on the stalk, you have to breed from a newer column.
