Hello all:
I've not been able to find any information regarding the weight(s) of the GMC coach. Specifically, front axle, rear axles, overall weight, net carrying capacity, etc.
I know the GVW is somewhere around 12,000 lbs. I've also found that GMC suggested a max. towing weight of 1,000 lbs. Also found that the wheelbase length is actually from the front axle to mid between the rear bogies, not to the center of the rear wheel.
Secondly what is the actual length of the overhang at the rear i.e. from the back edge of the rear tire to the back bumper. (I am just curious about this).
Can anyone provide this information or a link to it?
Still looking for my GMC.......
Thanks!
Doug
PS: Thanks for all the GREAT info on GMCNet - certainly makes life easier for a GMC wannabe!!

Doug,
Here's a link that will answer your questions about the dimensions:
http://www.bdub.net/GMCdrawings/index.html
The weights are in the Operating Manuals and I don't know if they are posted
anywhere on the Internet.
Here's two links that you can use to spend HOURS looking at information
about the GMC:

All the best,

Doug,
The GMC GVWs varied by model year. Starting in 1973 the GVW was 10,500, later increased to 11,200. In 1975 that was increased to 11,700 and in 1978 to 12,500. The early increase was accomplished thru redesigns, the later was a paper change. This information as well as some of your other questions can be found in service/owner manuals and is noted on bdubs site as well.

Doug,
I have a 1974 26 ft Canyonlands that is configured pretty much like it was originally (dinette, couch, refrig, stove, etc.) and on the outside I added a second roof A/C and a previous owner added a large Warn winch up front.
With that additional weight and with a full fuel tank, full water tank, empty poop tank, and 2 overweight Americans (we're working on that) all ready for a few days camping on board, the GMC weighs 4500 front, 7580 rear, 12080 total according to a truck scale I stopped by last month.
The underhood plate says GVW 11200, front 4200, rear 7000.
The rear overhang is ~68 inches from the back of the rear tire to the face of the rear bumper.
I don't know anything about towing because I don't tow anything. I take the GMC everywhere, that's one of the reasons why I bought a GMC. If wherever I go doesn't have a place for me to reasonably park the GMC then they don't need my money. In the 3.5 years I've had it on the road I've had no problems. I don't mind walking a few minutes from where I park to wherever it is I am going to, I need the exercise.
Hope this helps!

Think this site is great just wait until you meet all these GMC "crazies" at a rally. I'm still "recovering" from the convention in DuQuion back in September. My doctor thinks I got a big case of information and good times/people overload there and the only cure is to go to another rally/convention. So we're off to the Merrills' this weekend for a work rally. What a great way close up SunnyB for her "winter slumber".
