Paul,
About 90% was done on a 40 year old 18" Japanese manual brake -- I probably
paid <$20 for it back then. The other 10% was on an 8' electrically powered
job that will bend 1/4" cold rolled steel.
I could have done the 10% on the edge of my workbench with piece of angle
iron, C-clamps, and a hammer. Only the pieces in front of the driver and
passenger were more than 18" long -- maybe 36". A pair of sheet metal jawed
Vice Grips was real handy for bending short flanges -- most flanges can be
made short.
The 12 g. diamond plate aluminum I used is very soft and easy to work with.
The HF shear cuts it like butter. In fact, in the past couple of days I've
cut double thicknesses of that DP with the shear. The blades wouldn't
survive much of that though.
