We struggled with the decision for couple weeks with our designers and
viewing CAD models.
There were times we had to use other brand of air bags than the
Firestone, we used Good Year and Triangle.
The result with the Goodyear was what prompted us to really look at
the problem with coaches that had worn boggie pins.
When the coach turns sharply, the boggies twist dramatically when pins
are not tight and also if they are decent.
Good Year bags are very soft walled and will hot dog horizontally at
that point. when they both hot dog at the same time in opposite
direction, it would twist the middle paddle.
We know that the Firestone bags behave when new, but we have no way of
knowing what it will do few years from now.
We are offering to update them to the Quadra Bag for $400 or give full refund.

Well poop! My right bag has a lil checking in it, the left was replaced by the PO before I got the coach. Guess I got a 4 bagger in my future after tires...

I have to applaud JimK and the others for an honest response to the question. All too often, one gets a runaround answer, and rarely are folks given the real answer. Kudos for trying to solve problems and standing up to problems that show up.
I installed a quadrabag system a year ago, and I think that folks should be happy to spend the extra money to upgrade to that system, it does work very nicely and is a well built upgrade.

Jim,
Would this issue be solved with true-trackers? It seems to me that they would eliminate the twist.

Larry,
Yes, makes sense. Many owners have stated that the single best imporvement came from installing true track -- at least on the leading control arms.
As for the twist with the four bag system -- perhaps using a ball and socket for the lower point instead of a hinge would correct the issue. But, for me the full quadra bag is probably the best solution if/when the time comes for an upgrade.
Also, we are fortunate to have vendors who are willing to develop these alternate systems for our coaches and need to do what we can to help if they have issues after the sale. It's not like they have deep pockets and a huge market to sell into.

But more than just solving the issue with the 4 bag system, it seems to me that
rue-Trackers are almost "must have" items for the leading bogey. The bogey
wist when turning is not beneficial - it does not improve steering, tire wear,
uspension wear, and so on.
Come to think of it the bogeys probably try to toe (in or out) while driving
oo.
If the bogey twist causes issues with the 4-bag system, then I imagine it's not
elping the Quadrabag either. The Quadrabag system is simply stout enough to
andle the twist.
Does this make any sense, or am I blowing hot air?

Mike,
We have made them for others, one have refused to pull it off the
market and insist there is no problem with them as long as Firestone
bags are used.I say otherwise.
There is no real danger, but I cannot have people on side of a street.
We have 40 sets sitting here and they will not leave here.
Some have commented that we did this only to promote the Q Bag. If
that was the case, there would not have Dual Bag kits of 40 sets
collecting dust.
The Quadra Bag Kits are selling well on their own, so no need to play games.

That was my thinking when I heard about this problem a few weeks back.
That center pivot point was only to support the joint between the two bags.

You are correct in some ways, but the Q Bag has some hidden designs
that yo do not see till one gets the kit.
The fact that each wheel operates independently off each bag decreases
the chances of the back tire from skidding so much on hard stops.
The replacement bags are $100 each, so its a good deal on the long run
and the handling is considerably better than the standard bag.
