Hello:
The other day, I found an "exploded" diagram of the GMC with what I thought were the holding tanks between the frame rails between, and forward of, the front rear wheel.
The diagram explains a lot of things, but doesn't indicate where the grey/black tanks are, or where the fresh water tank is.
I assume the fresh water is probably inside the coach in a cabinet somewhere, etc.
Am I correct that the holding tank(s) are at the back of the coach, between the frame rails (similar in setup to the gas tanks)? I know some models only have a black tank, others have both.
Just curious as I am wondering how much effort would be required to convert a rear bath to a side bath. As an article I found recently suggested...30+ year old coaches could probably do with at least a new toilet, if not a new bathroom. And I remember seeing an article on GMCNet where an owner had made his own bathroom unit - it looked very smart and got me to thinking.

what year and model do you have?
My particular GMC has a 26-3 interior. the frsh water tank is located
under the pass. side rear seatee. the fill is located in the propane
tank compartment. I only have 1 waste tank. it is located aft..
behind the gas tank.

My 73 26' Canyon Lands has a water tank located in the right rear, inside,
The filler tube runs through the propane tank area. I don't know about the
black/grey tank(s).

Our 74 floor plan 26-2 has the water tank under the rear gaucho seat, thus it is against the rear wall in the center of the coach. The black tank is as noted above, behind the fuel tanks.

Doug,
For the most part:
GMC upfitted coaches, have one black tank and NO gray tank. This one tank is located in the frame "slot" between the rear most wheels, right behind the rear fuel tank. (The tanks you may have been looking at on the "exploded" diagram where probably the fuel tanks.)
On coaches with black and gray tanks, the black tank is under the toilet. ie: My rear bath Birchaven has a SMALL rear black tank, and a larger* gray tank where the black tank is in a "normal" GMC. On a side bath Birch, the use of these same tanks is reversed.
There are custom installations that use a macerating toilet, allowing it to be installed ALMOST anywhere. (How about a new drivers seat?)
SO... the tanks are not the limiter in moving the bathroom. I would say the windows would be. They are very hard to patch where they do not crack.
(* The coachman installed gray tank is still smaller than the GMC installed combined tank.)
