Gas is $6.48 in Holland. That's $.76/mile in my rig. But it'll be a lot more comfortable that my experience in Europe in 1968 when I lived in a VW van for 6 months. Back in those days it was Europe on $5 per day. H'mmm driving 20 miles would have used up my entire budget at today's prices.

Don't know bout gas in the NL, but last year when I was in germany I paid about 1,05 Euro a liter for diesel, benzin (unleaded regular) was about 1,15 euro a liter. When I was with my cousin in Aachen we drove into Belgium because diesel was only 89 euro cents a liter. With the exchange that's about 4.50 a gallon and a full buck cheaper then in germany. Still though despite the high price of fuel I miss driving 200+km/h in Germany....

THE GMC COACH IS GOING TO HOLLAND ?
We recently returned from HOLLAND ! ~
{ yup, and we drove a 26'GMC Motorhome Thar & Back }
The 'Ole Gospel Ship' handled really well while enroute and returning ~
We sorta felt like 'World Travelers' while we drove thru Paris, Cairo, stopping by to see
Mt Vernon, Monticello, Bourbonnais and Manhattan. We then went on to Frankfort, Ganges,
Saugatuck, Graafsthap, Vriesland and Zeeland before we stayed 5 days on the eastern
shore of Beautiful Lake Michigan in the Holland State Park.
On our return trip we stopped by Alamo, Notre Dame, Lapaz, stayed at Lake Wawasee,
Drove thru Warsaw and Palestine. then went thru Rochester, Athens, Gilead, Chili,
Denver, Mexico, Peru and spent a couple of days on the Red Brittle near Santa Fe.
We met some friends in Bunker Hill and Miami before stopping in Kokomo. Later we
drove to Edinburgh, Austin, Vienna, fueled up in Memphis on to Hamburg.
We finally entered the Blue Grass State on I65 South Bound And Down
thus taking us back to Sweet Home Alebamy.
Are We World Traverers or Or Just Whirl Travelers ?
that's my story and I'm sticking to it ~

David,
The PO of The Blue Streak told me that because the GMC will not fit in a
container it had go "deck cargo" to Australia. The cost are calculated by
the volume of the item.
He told me that they measured the GMC at the longest / widest / highest
points:
Length = bumper to bumper
Width = outside of drivers side mirror to outside of passenger side mirror
Height = ground to top of roof air conditioner
Since the mirrors and A/C protrude beyond the body you get screwed as the
additional width and height is multiplied over the whole length!
Bottom line - when shipping a GMC overseas at the very least remove the
mirrors. To save additional costs remove the "stuff" on the roof.
IIRC he told me the cost to ship the GMC from LA to Sydney was around
$12,500.

Rob M.

You simply pay for a container. I don't know the cost to Rotterdam but from
Oakland to Taiwan was around $2500
When I shipped my boat back from Asia it about $1900
