Parking in Champaign/Urbana IL [message #100586] |

My son and I are going to attempt to attend the Ohio State Illinois football game on our way back from DuQuoin. I think my best bet is to unhook the toad, park the GMC, and take the toad to the game.
I'm looking for a suggestion of a place, away from the congestion of the game traffic to park the GMC.

There is a WalMart on the north end of Champaign, and also one east of Urbana. If they allow RV parking, those would probably work well for your plans and are only 10-15 minutes away from the football stadium.
The University also has RV parking at the football stadium, but I'm not sure of what prior arrangements need to be made.

If you want to check before getting there, the Champaign Wal-Mart is at 2610 N. Prospect (217-352-0700), or the one south of the football stadium is at 505 S. Dunlop, Savoy, IL (217-355-5845). RV parking at the stadium is $40, no overnight stays permitted.
If you're a deep dish pizza fan, I'd also suggest Papa Dell's Pizza in the heart of campustown on Green St.
I spent too many years in that town to not remember it fondly.
Wish I could join all of you in DeQuon. Maybe next year!

Since you will be in Urbana in the near future, I was wondering if we coul dmeet up briefly. I am in the market for a GMC based on what I know and have read about them but my wife would like the opportunity to see one up close and personal. I live in Urbana about a mile from the Urbana Walmart.
Regarding the Urbana Walmart it is pretty convenient if you will be traveling east/west on I74. The orth Champaign location is better located for going east/west or north/south. However, for access to teh game either Urbana or Savoy is better since you can avoid through town football traffic.
Let me know if getting together would be possible and we can exchange contact details.

Lan
