G'day,

Short drive yesterday - Helen spotted Hunting Island State Park, SC and
decided this where she wanted to spend a day or so. It is a very nice place,
however, the spot they assigned us was a bugger to back into, especially
with my lousy backing skills and Helen's "unique" way of directing me. We
went back and forth a number of times and I couldn't figure out where she
was directing me. Turns out she had misunderstood where the GMC would sit on
the site. Once we got that sorted it was a LOT easier.

Got up this morning and headed for the beach and went for an early morning
swim. Water temp was invigorating as it was a bit cool. When I got back to
the GMC Helen told me "you missed the deer!"

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=35877

After coffee and juice we're off to Beaufort to have a look around. I was
also advised by the social directress that today was a day of swimming and
trying out our foldable bikes. "We wouldn't want to show up at DuQuoin and
not know how to ride them!" In the vernacular of the area "Yes'm!"

Technical report - the Onan shut down and wouldn't restart while we were at
a Tanger Outlet mall. Easy fix - oil level was too low. Note to self - need
to change the Onan oil next engine oil change.

Verizon report - I must apologize, I forgot that I had promised to report on
how well the USB 760 modem and their monthly service was. To date I have
been able to connect and download in Orlando, FL; Pt. St. Lucie, FL; Key
West, FL; Gainesville, FL; Americus, GA, Savannah, GA (Skidaway Island);
Hunting Island State Park, SC. I configured the full version of Microsoft
Outlook to download emails from my ISP - IINET in Australia. Yeah I know
there are "better" email programs out there but that's what I used when I
was a Field Rep for HS and I'm too damn lazy to try and learn something new!
In the major cities I get four out of four bars and I can download the
biggest files no problem. If I get only two out four I find that Outlook
doesn't like it and it "times out." If Outlook does time out I log onto
IINET and move the large files to a folder so I can download them when I
have a high speed Wi-Fi connection.

That's it for today.

Regards,
Rob M.

Dan,

We'll follow you and Teri home from DuQuoin. Unfortunately we won't be able
to stay more than overnight as we've got a lot of ground to cover and
Helen's flying out of Houston on Oct. 16th.

Regards,
Rob M.

Rob and Helen - glad I got to visit you on your extended visit to Americus. Elise and I enjoyed that over rated meal, also. Razz

Also glad you found Hunting Island. I was talking about that park just the other day - it might have been with you - as being my brother's favorite spot. Thank goodness your Onan troubles were minor. We'll see later if Ken has worked his magic on mine.

Have a good rest of the trip.

Stick,

I think you're confusing the restaurant meal with the steak and shrimp
(prawns) dinners Rob & Helen prepared for us here, but you missed. The
Trellis can't compare with the Muellers on its best day! And they serve
FULL glasses of wine! :-)

Better hope the Onan works 'cause I had to swipe the power cord you were
plugged in to, so the maid could clean the coach for next week.

Oooh, that sounds good. Now I can accept Rob's offer. I was worried it might be alligator tail with some of that vegemite stuff smeared on it. I got a/c power in the driveway.

G'day,

Vegemite might be an Australian icon, but was bought out by Kraft many years ago.
Last I heard it could no longer be sold in some, if not all states of the U.S., due to having one of its ingredients being a banded substance.
