I have a brand new HEI distributor if anyone needs a spare. We only used it to break in our new engine. I have a Patterson and a spare Patterson already.
I can bring it to Du Quoin. Id swap it for a governor.

Dan, maybe someone can chime in, but I'm assuming the THM 400 governor is the same as a 425. If it is, there are plenty of them on Ebay. The cal may be different but it certainly could be a get-you-home type of back-up.

I would like to see and compare a 540 Allison transmission governor to our TH425 units. The plastic driven gear IS the same and it sure looks like the same shaft dimensions. The metal speedo drive gear maybe could be swapped along with the weights and springs then we would have another source. GM did have lots of common parts.....

Bob,
The 400 is different. I wish it is not the case as they are hard to replace.

About the only way to find these rascals is to keep scanning the junkyards and look for Cad Eldos pre-78. I have picked up a few this way and always carry a spare. Toros too but they just about never show up now. Yup, Eldos are your best bet but tough too.
They get crushed somewhere almost every day.

Well bummer! I'm surprised actually since most of the guts are the same, but so be it.

I know a guy that can do it but it is labor intensive and would be costly. If he would retire from his normal job he could earn a lot of spending money doing stuff like this for us.

Wally;
Yep, the 540 Ally's had the 425, 600,610 and 620 governors, depending on what engine was used (rpm difference). I think we need to set up a working rally in your area and get some of these questions answered!
We will need a test coach...Dan 'the man' Greg comes to mind...:>)

We are on the road headed South by Southeast, for DuQuoin. GM TBI w/EBL performing well.

The last I knew there weer a couple of them in the state or federal pen in Illinois. Maybe one of them could be brought to DuQuoin. I know one of them is currently on the waiting list to get in to the pen. Maybe you could get that one.
