Make sure yall gas up before you cross the river. Gasoline is 20 cents, and more, higher in Il. than Mo. Coming in from I-55 and I-57 there are a couple of truck stops about 10 miles before you hit the bridge, Charleston, Mo. Also, if you get off on 51 at about MM 24, you will miss that 3 mile climb on I-57 just south of Marion. You will be able to get in and out of Illinois without buying the high priced gasoline if you work it right.

I was just in central Illinois, and regular was $2.76/gallon. Back here in Chicago, it's $3.05/gallon today. Gotta love those taxes (between Illinois and Cook County)!

I don't think it's the taxes. It's the free economy and the guys setting the
price that think they can get more in some places than others. Also, if your
gas is "reformulated" there seems to be some thought that it's worth more
because it helps in reducing smog.

It used to be that way here in Jefferson County, Kentucky until the state
stepped in and sued for the difference when it cost no more to reformulate.

Saturday I filled up for 2.33.9 here in Dexter. I think it is 245 over at Charleston, or it was last Tuesday.

Dan,
Anyone traveling through Memphis on I40 should know that the bridge will be down to one lane east and west bound until late this year.
You may encounter significant delays. The "old bridge" I55 will no doubt get a lot more traffic as a consequence.

Good information Dennis. I hope those that plan to cross there read your post. Maybe we need to make it a thread of its own.
