Since I had to cut the line to the house gas connection to put the new
flowmaster 70 in (which is NOT loud enough according to my 15 year old son),
I've decided to re-do all the connections from the tank back to eliminate
the rubber hose and the PO's hack connection to the fridge line.

I also want to add a quick disconnect for our grill.

So what should I use? Black pipe connections and then flexible pipe to get
around the muffler?

All flex?

Thanks in advance for all your advice!

Good news: We're going to DuQuoin and bringing our friend Joe Haddad who got
us into all of this, and is an AMAZING GMC mechanic!!!!! He's bringing his
ALL original 77 Palm Beach!!! Mini work rally in Louisville next week!!!!

Hi Pete

Here are some pictures of the installation of the 3" exhaust and the Flowmaster in the rear including how I routed the gas line.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=3123

For a picture of how I added a quick connect for a grill check out:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=3187

It is the last picture. The quick connects will not seal properly with the low pressure of the GMC pressure regulator so be sure to put a gas valve just before the quick connect or you will have a leak through the quick connect.

Be sure to check out the pol fitting that you have before hanging more weight on it.
Here is a picture of a pol that has a flat for a wrench. That is too week to put on more weight. If you have it replace it with the other one in the picture.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5594

When Billy Massey once had to redo the list all of my pictures got reshuffled. One of these days I have to go through each album and rearrange them like they used to be.

Forgot to tell you that there really is no reason to replace the hose. In fact it is good to have some flexibility in the line. I would not use a flex hose such as they use for a home furnace or water heater as they will not hold up to the vibrations of a motorhome.
You also don't want to use black pipe. Just use copper tubing. You can flare it for the fittings. Just be sure that you don't solder any copper tubing. That will not hold up. The flare fittings work just fine.

What about those rubber hoses used on the boats?
There certainly can't be a vibration problem the way they are beat on the waves.
Cost could be a factor but copper is not that cheap.
The rubber would be much easier to manipulate around as long as you don't rub the exhaust system....
Just a thought...

I did use the existing rubber hose for part of the run. You will find that copper is a lot less expensive that propane hose. I would not suggest that you use just any old rubber hose. The propane hose has the fittings already swedged on. Look at the pictures that I had posted and you will see what I did.
The copper comes close to the exhaust pipe after the muffler so I wanted metal under it.

I might be enclined to agree with your Son, try cherry bomb glass packs next time, or some bullet race muffs, or hell just cut the pipes right after the headers and dump there, you will make lots of new friends that way! Razz

The WHOLE time I was working on the exhaust, I kept answering the question
of "why can't you just cut it there and run it out on the side like the one
we saw at bean station?"
Which led to the next question:
"if you run it out to the side, will it shoot flames?"

Kids.
