Seems like it never fails, you put a hose clamp on, position it so it's not
interfering with anything and has the easiest accessibility, Then the very next
thing you have to work on that exact hose clamp will be in perfect position to
cut and scratch the living heck out of your wrist or arm, etc. How do we manage
to do some things so perfectly WRONG ???

Ray,

My buddy was driving his 3 year new SOB back from Tahoe when a hose clamp finally wore a hole in his radiator hose. This left him stranded on the side of the freeway. He wanted the "correct" hose, and that took 4 days to arrive! A $60 hose turned in to a $500 repair.

Your wrists and arms will heal for free!

Hint: Look for the double wrapped hose clamps which are made for silicone hose and found at marine stores. They come in all sizes and have a smooth surface on the inside and do not expose the hose to the surrations which cut into them. They cost a little more but are well worth the reliability. Even better are the ones with spring washers on them which keep a constant pressure on the hose and are double wrapped. These can cost up to 4 bucks a piece for heater hose size but are really neat.

You know I was just saying, they can put a man on the moon (ok not anymore) but they can't make a hose clamp that doesn't destroy the hose.

I know the double wire ones are better too but they aren't readily available everywhere.

I'll have to check those silicone jobs out.
