Hi all,
I am thinking of ways to reduce the noise in the drivers seat when underway and I unfortunately I did not take pictures of the roof ribs when I had the head liner down a few years ago.
The plastic stuff that is up there is sagging and it will droop even more if I glue to it some deadening material such a Ozite carpet or foam backed headliner cloth, so can anyone point me to a picture of the "bones" of the cab?
Thanks
Gil

Gil,
I just put some of Eastwoods "sound & heat insulating material" on the engine cover, floor & steps of the cab. Haven't finished it yet but with ~60% covered it made a very noticeable improvement. Its an alunimum film on a Butyl rubber backing, got a good discount from catalog order as a lapsed customer. www.eastwood or 1-800-345-1178

The sweet spot is to turn down the hearing aids and turn up the stereo . No unwanted noise just good sounds but it won't work with her screaming at you from the other side.

Gil,
On the under side of the cockpit floor, I've got 3/4" thick fiberglass "duct
board". On top I've got heavy foam carpet pad and carpet. But probably
most important to noise reduction is a good "bulb" gasket around the hatch.
You should be able to find a good gasket at Lowe's, Home Depot, or other
such place. Mine is about 1" wide, 3/4" high uncompressed, of soft black
closed cell foam. I think it's important to have the "bulb" type which is
hollow in the center so it compresses well; and, in effect, offers two seals
(the two walls of the "tube").
Of course, I must admit that having only one ear, and it functioning at
about 50% efficiency helps considerably too.
