Since Gene and his wife delivered our coach a few weeks ago it has mostly sat in the yard as we went through the PO's boxes of stuff and defined our game plan for the coach. We got the shower working correctly, tinkered with the choke to get a cold idle that did not belch smoke, had the interior steam cleaned and generally cleaned and organized. When Gene delivered the coach he noted that a CV boot had a tear in it and was throwing grease so we did not drive it waiting for a boot from Jim K. Well, OK we did take it out for a 5 mile run around the town but other than that it has sat. I looked at the CV boot and could not find a tear until I realized that the boot was entirely gone. The ball bearings in the joint looked nice and bright without any gease left on them. Saturday I took it into town and had the new boot put on. It was my first real drive in the coach and it sure was fun. I also got the propane tank filled (it was empty) and filled the fuel tanks. As I pulled out of the gas station I went around the car in front of me and I heard the two women with the car say to each other that "that is really neat". Made my day!! Razz

All in all it was about a 35 mile round trip to town. It was a good familiarization drive with some 55mph stretches and in town driving through traffic and side streets. I was wondering how it would handle the 2 mile climb up the mountain to the house and I kept it in second and was able to maintain 35mph up some very steep grades.

I still think the carb needs help even though Miguel did his best with it. It did make it 4,926 miles here without a major glitch so I am not worried about it, just think it should be better. At the gas station the starter clicked twice before it grabbed on the third try. Has been fine since but I want to check the connections. Miguel replaced the starter during the rebuild.

The color has grown on us and we actually really like it now. Lisa is so looking forward to DuQuoin. She goes over the schedule and is planning her days out. Fun to see her enthusiasm as she has never been in a motorhome before. So, we are having fun and looking forward to meeting lots of you at DuQuoin.
