Hi Mike,
My friend has lots of experience restoring cars and buildings so is very good craftsman capable of taking on a ground up restoration if he wanted to. He doesn't want to do that at this point. He and his wife want to travel with us and be free to attend rallies and such so want a coach that is ready to go now with only minor issues yet to be resolved. It needs to be reliable, clean and tastefully done. Quality paint and interior would be definite plusses as would be properly rebuilt drive train components, wheels, etc. They have the financial resources to invest in a top quality coach when they find one they really like along with the smarts to be good buyers. They will be a good addition to our ranks.

I suspect you'll need to define what the buyer thinks is a "finished coach." Many here, on the net, do not think ANY coach is "finished." (A "really nice coach" might be a little gray also.) To be "finished" does it need to have a brand new motor, transmission and running gear? How about new paint and interior?
Basically:
What is important to him and how much is he willing to spend?

Shouldn't be a problem finding a coach that fits the bill.
Does your friend have a preferred floorplan? (Or a floorplan that will NOT do...) When they travel will it only be a couple or more people? Could make a difference. It might be worth it for them to look at a few coaches first... even if only to evaluate the floor plan. Rallies are good for this. <http://www.gmc-cascaders.com/rally_schedule.htm>

I haven't done my "full USA" Craig's list search lately. There are normally several "high end" coaches (at least by price and pictures) listed. I'll have to do it again sometime soon. I use search tempest. <http://www.searchtempest.com/>
He should only consider coaches that have been used in the last 12 months or less. "Rolling coaches" have fewer hidden defects.

You know what I find interesting about that ad? As I scanned the list of
modifications, I was struck by the number of them that were probably the
direct result of being exposed to them on the GMCNet. If not directly, at
least indirectly because I know they were first introduced here. A lot of
the other changes were probably made because they were discussed here, but
the connection could have been made in other ways; not likely so those I've
listed below. This is not the first time I've notice this; most coaches
that have had much done to them include some of these "GMCNet Innovations";
this ad just struck me as having more than usual. 'Fess up, who are you
that's trying to sell out? :-)
macerator -- Possibly from somewhere else, but unlikely; few outside of the
GMC community, even today, use them on motorhomes
2 fantastic ceiling fans -- Certainly possibly stimulated elsewhere, but not
likely.
halogen headlights -- Strong possiblity of GMCNet influence.
electric choke -- Probably stimulated by the popularity here of blocked
crossovers
30 amp power cord -- Often mentioned here as easier to handle than 50A
electric vacuum pump -- Probably first mentioned here in about 2000 -- wish
I could remember by whom.
stove power vent -- Maybe Emery introduced or promoted this somewhere else,
but I'd be surprised.
Air bag shut-off & fill fittings -- Byron Maxwell, and others, has promoted
and sold them at GMCMI conventions and elsewhere, but the more frequent
mention of them has undoubtedly been here.
2 piece fan shroud -- Certainly my own first exposure to the idea, even
before the fiberglass versions, was here.
gas shocks on generator & propane doors -- My first memory is of Don Ogden's
posting back around 2001; a lot of us have done it since then and several
GMCMHPhotos has several albums on the subject -- including one of mine.
choke solenoid on generator -- I think Ted Stinnett was the first to use the
Surplus Center rotary solenoid for this purpose about 6-8 years ago;
announcement here, and photo site albums made it popular -- as long as the
supply held out.
Lumina wiper arms & blades -- First announced here by Chuck Camroux 5-6
years ago and probably never promoted anywhere else (except by GMC vendors
over the past 2-3 years after learning of it here).

Your lookin at the right cars alright Pete. Take out the battery and there
should be 3 little bolts in the bottom of the tray. They take a 10mm
wrench to loosen. They hold up the vac pump that is mounted underneath.
I found one on a '82 Cimmeron (that was bured under another car) the other
day and the brakes still had vacume on em! Things are more expensive in a
small town I guess. I paid $35 for it and all the plumbing, filter, and
switches.
