Paul,

I haven't gotten the GMC on the road since installing the shroud flaps. I'm
waiting for the new brake booster to arrive; maybe today. I probably won't
gather much data before the trip to Du Quoin; that will be the acid test --
if the weather doesn't cool off too much by then.

Paul,

Sorry, I forgot to address your questions about the engine hatch: I don't
have a video camera to put in the engine compartment, and the engine hatch,
while not raised, cannot be replaced with a standard one. As of last week,
most of it is at OEM level, but the air cleaner cutout and aluminum plate
cover are different, with a slight dome in the aluminum plate. All to clear
the EFI on the Cad500.

Unless I come up with a camera, the flaps' performance will have to be
implied from the results.

Has anyone entertained the idea of installing those inexpensive video
security camera systems in a coach. I believe you can get four cameras and
a four-way split screen monitor for about $200? Good job for the co-pilot.
two in the engine compartment one for a rear view and one extra - behind the
frig?

Ken, maybe a "temperary" riser under a borrowed hatch. Maybe a 2X2 frame and some wood screws could raise a "borrowed" hatch. Just some thoughts. Might have to put some pig iron on it to keep it down.Just wondering,,,,PL

Fred,

No, I don't have bore scope. Do you think it would show the operation of
the shroud flaps? How long is the probe? I'll see if there's a 5/8" hole
to run through.

Paul,

We might try something like that. Or I might even make a temporary plywood
hatch with a Lexan window in it just for short term testing.

the resolution is not bad and can see from a foot or two away. the snake is about 3 ft. long. the biggest problem is orientation of the lens and view screen.

let me know if you can use it.

You can also get extensions for the snake end from MCM
Electronics. I got 2 for mine.

Thanks anyway, Fred, but I think this web cam will work better. It has good
depth of field, field of view, and sensitivity. And since it's a USB
interface I can easily run the wire through the hatch -- with an extension
if necessary. We may yet get to see if the flaps flap.
