With many folks here mentioning that Progressive is not renewing, I thought I would mention my experience.

I contacted Marlene at Miller Insurance 800.622.6347 and she provided me with a agreed value Policy with Progressive on my Coach.

I renewed my Agreed Value motorhome insurance about three months ago with no problem. It is through Southern Progressive.

I don't recall anyone mentioning they couldn't renew. I did as did many others.

Bob,

When I called 1-800 Progressive direct I was told that they no longer issued
agreed value policies on motorhomes.

I then contacted Marlene at Millers Insurance and they issued me a
Progressive agreed value policy.

It turns out that there are different Progressive companies and some of them
do issue agreed value policies (obviously)!

Apparently there are and I know they can vary significantly from state to state, but I haven't heard that they wouldn't renew existing policies.

Bob,

Oops! I missed the "renewing."

I buy insurance when I arrive and cancel when I leave the country.

Progressive is eliminating agreed value policies altogether on new business, however the "roll out" has been gradual, apparently moving from the east coast to the west coast. Existing agreed value policies will be grandfathered, however the expectation is that premiums on those existing policies will start increasing. It's already happened to some of us.

It is a good time to discuss this. Any time is good to talk about Agreed Value, but before a rally is a great time. IF you are coming to Du Quoin, contact Jim K. and get your coach appraised. We all know a guy that lost his coach this year and did not have Agreed Value. Not good.
Got my Progressive Agreed Value bill today. It has gone down 30 bux. For 37,800 my yearly policy is 356.00. And, I had a 1100.00 tow bill last year.
Make sure you have Agreed Value if you have a bunch of money tied up in your GMC.

JimK is working on my Agreed Value now. I am in California. Should I go with Progressive or perhaps the company Jim Bounds suggests? After Dan and Teri's engine problem, I am thinking towing is also huge. Especially as we start off toward Du Quoin.

I just received my Agreed Value Progressive renewal. In December 2008, I paid $660.00. In 2009 it was $700.00 and now it is $900.00. Michigan insurance is always high but these increases are significant. Are there any other companies offering Agreed Value policies. What is the latest info on FMCA insurance? Thanks
Rick

Try Miller Insurance. 503-636-6347 Ask for Marlene.

Company that Jim Bounds recommends. Took good care of me.

Rick -

Try Luft Insurance or Garceau Insurance, both in Escanaba. They are appointed with Allied Insurance (part of Nationwide Insurance), which writes agreed value policies for RVs. Another good option is Blue Sky RV Insurance (www.blueskyrvinsurance.com). If requesting a quote online from Blue Sky, you'll have to put that your coach is a 1984 model, but they know about GMCs. Keep us posted on what you find.

I keep looking. Blue Sky does not do business in California as of now. Grrr.

Based on this thread I began checking.  I found that GMAC has a deal with FMCA (to which most GMCers in clubs belong).  Theirs was a good rate compared to my current coverage with Allstate.

TOWING IS A BIG DEAL: I called Allstate about my policy and they will not write any policy with RV towing.  Dan Greg will attest that that is a BIG item.  GMAC said their towing would tow it to the nearest place that could repair it to put us back on the road.

LIABILITY ONLY: Liability only might be worth the consideration for long periods when I may not be driving. GMAC Liability only insurance for 6 months is only $75.  1-800-gmac123.  Your current company will probably do that for you for a similar or very low rate.
