Coming back frome Berrin Springs just past Litchfield we had a 1/4 tank in the second and 1/8th in the main so I switched over. After about 30 min. or so,,,,,,,nothing. Dead silence. Neutral,,,,cranked and cranked while rolling to a stop. Nothing,,,not even a pop. Switched back to the main. Nothin,,,lots of cranking,,,No joy. opened her up,,,no acclerator pump gas. Removed the inlet hose off the fuel pump and had the boss crank it and it diddn't have hardly any suck. Unloaded the Wing and got a pump at the second small town.(litchfield) Installed, prime,,,,,,crankin and crankin. No help. I had siphined gas out of the bike to prime and it would run as long as I kept drippin gas down it. Ran like 2-3 min. No accl. pump gas. Before the fuel pump install I had started the generator so I could keep the batteries charged, but it died after about 1.5 to 2 min. SO,,,,,,,,,, whats wrong. I,ll post the solution next after you respond. PL

It could be a couple of things. If the fuel filter in the carb is plugged, then the pump can't pump and subsequently won't suck either--even though it may be fine. A better indicator is to slightly loosen the pressure side at the carb and give it a quick crank to see if fuel leaks out--obviously be careful and do this in moderation. A worse scenario is that the cam that drives the pump lever has come off.

GMCRV1,,,nope,,got gas in front tank, 5-7 gal.,,, 1/4 tank. Now I did switch back to the front and rear tanks of course. The key is the GENERATOR. Remember it stopped runnin after 1 to 2 min.

The fact that you mentioned your generator running must have something to do with it--what model is your coach?

My guess: The pick up was 1/4 tank off the bottom.

"didn't hardly have any suck". 1/8th on main,,,1/4 on front. FP no help. Prime no help. And yes its outa gas. None in the carb. What hurts is the boss said more than once,,"you're out of gas",,,"but dear you don't understand, i've got a 1/4 on the gage"!!! I said. Then it hit me, she was right. It was out of gas,,,the rear was out!!!!I figured it was the valve,,,,remember no gen set.. and it runs on the rear. No chance I was going to jack up both sides with my a#%s hangin out close to the interstate so I could swap the hose on the valve. So we unloaded the Wing,,, purchased a 5 gal container and filled it and the Wing(6.3). tied it to the rear seat, dumped it in and siphened out 3-4 from the bike(long time with spare 1/4 inch air tube). Primed, fired right up,,,and then reloded the wing. I post this so others won't change out a fuel pump on the side of thee road needlessly!! Hope yoy enjoyed,,thaks for responding. Does anybody want a slightly used fuel pump(403), i've got two. (Cad insalled now),,,PL

Alright.  I just sold the travel trailer and have funds avail to seriously
pursue this GMC craziness.

The wife is a little sad about the trailer being (it was nice and we had kept it
in great condition).  She is still in post-sale depression.  We have looked at a
couple of rigs locally.  One, mostly completely original (lime green/plaid and
worn) and another that had been slapped around in an attempt to customize it
(good intentions, gone arie, mucho rust on the under carriage, 1/2 finished
everywhere, when I started it up old gas was pour out all over the ground and
made the wife sick from the smell).

Well as of today we are not seeing eye to eye.  She sees the glass as half
empty, I see it as half full.

Anyways, the purpose of this email is to ask for any GMC's in the Central part
of Calif (say from the Thousand Oaks area North to Monterey) to stand up and
show off your rig.  I would love to let the wife walk thru a nice rig so she
could catch the vision.

What I am looking to show her is a rig that has been tastfully brought
up-to-date, not a "restored to orignal" show queen.

Not looking to buy your rig (although if you wanted to sell...), just a chance
to show off your prized beauty and let the wife see a quality 26' or 23' rig.

Thanks

Kelly McKinley

Welcome Kelly: I am on the right coast so advise is all I got.. We got the "Black List" http://www.bdub.net/Black_List/GMCAssist.pdf
It is a list of GMC owners willing to help other GMC owners and in your case Wanna-bees. I am sure you can find someone in your area that would be glad to guide you. If you can attend a rally close to you, just show up. If nothing else you will be fed well and can see true life coaches that owners use. Most everyone open up their "babies" for open house.

The biggest issues with the coaches is sitting unused and things previous owners did. I would advise to try to find one SHE likes and go from there for better or worse.

Here are a few of my pics http://tinyurl.com/3xcs8j
If you go to the top right and click on home you will probably find a few million more. Good Luck.....

Nope,,,changed the valve and no further problems. The tipoff at the time, and i missed it was,,,,20 to 30 min after switching from an 1/8 tank to 1/4 tank is it stopped ant the generator was a 2 min. run on the gas in the carb and line. Figure 3-5 gal. is 1/8th. thats 25 to 30 min run time at 10mpg. I,ve gotten over 10 before. But when the generator stopped I thought "thats odd" not aha. Still got 2 olds 403 fuel pumps though. I'll have them with me at Duquoin along with alot of other parts I'll list later. PL

OMG,

think this through --- I own 2 of these --- and I know there is no rational
way to splane the addiction.

rethink this decision - life is short ;>)

Maybe, you can say " we are doing this -because we can-, not because it is
good" - or someting like that ;>)
