Greetings from Redmond Oregon. As of this time we have identified 5 GMC
motorhomes here at the rally, with a few more that might be lurking out in the
family parking areas. So far the weather has been ideal and last night
view of the Long, Long Trailer starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arniz was a real
hoot - especially with the RV crowd here. The film was introduced by Todd
Fisher, or as he put it Debbie's son, Princess Leaha (sp) brother and Darth
Vador's nephew. Turns out he used to own a Palm Beach GMC. Fancy that!!
Today is a rather dead day, good for kibitzing with fellow GMCers. Tomorrow
the fun starts and it seems they will be keeping us rather busy.
More later and perhaps Dan will get some photo posted.

I am here guarding Curtis' coach. They are nowhere to be found.

It's my opinion that we should use one FMCA rally each year as our regional
rally (Western States, in my case).

This seems good both from a political and a PR perspective.

How can they know how good we are unless they see us, get to know us.

This could not only increase the value of our GMCs, but also add to the
potential list of those who might consider owning one.

Fin

The FMCA National Directors of all GMC chapters were told last year that the FMCA would like to see more GMCs at the rallies. They were told that FMCA would see to it that all GMCs were parked together if they wanted to. They also said that they could make arrangements for hookups since the GMC tanks were much smaller than many RVs. They seemed willing to also provide space for the GMC chapter's meetings and would probably make other concessions as well.

I suggest that you contact the Western States National Director who I believe is still Kerry Tandy and ask him about this.

We attended this rally and enjoyed most of it. We were parked with one other GMC (from Minnesota) near some smaller modern coaches. It's easy to get confused in such a big meeting (2300 coaches!)'cause I never did find the other GMC's. George Baxter did come to visit us, but it would have been nice to have all our coaches together. MAC THE FIRE GUY gave a nice presentation which should scare all who have a propane reefer. "It's not if, but when they cause a fire!" After engines, the number two cause of fires. Also, drills for getting out after crash or fire are important. I wonder if anyone has ever pulled the emergency loop on the back window of the GMC? Does it work or what? I think he said that eight people were killed in motor home fires last year. One in particular when the "trash" tire (passenger side front)blew and the motor home turned over on that side, blocking the exit. Two older people died when the could not get out. All in all, an enjoyable visit and the price was right, $140.00. We like to prepare our own food in the coach.

Sounds like you had fun.. There should be a better way of getting together
with all the GMCers attending a rally.
Pulling the rear emergency window release is a one shot deal AFAIK. Someone
may have done it while restoring a coach.

Nice report.

Sorry we missed you George. Teri and I had to leave after the meeting. Did not get to visit with James and Teresa either. Am glad I ran into you in Tillamook.
