Lisa and I just got back from a great 2 week trip to Minnesota's Lake Superior
north shore. Did about 1,000 miles round trip and spent 2 weeks camped right on
the Baptism River just north of Hwy 61 on Hwy 1 at Eckbeck State Forest
Campground. The coach ran flawless on the way up even though our exhaust system
was dying fast. Spent 2 weeks, used the Onan to charge the batteries and all
was well. Went to start the coach to leave and the engine cranked and cranked
with no fire. I checked for spark and NONE. Our previous owner Charlie Toole
had put an extra completely rebuilt distributor in the coach and we've kept it
under the sofa. After I realized that there was no spark, I removed the dist
cap, popped out the entire distributor making note of all the positioning,
popped in the new one and put the cap back on. 30 minutes later the old girl
fired up immediately and away we went for our 450 mile journey home. Sure
helped to have an extra dist. By the time we got home the exhaust system was
toast too, so time to upgrade the exhaust and upgrade to a Springfield ignition
system. But still a FUN and adventurous time and the ole GMC gave us another
great vacation. Use'em and enjoy'em and take the good as it comes and the bad
as part of the adventure !
