A number of the body pads are missing on my 77 pb.
After searching the only info I found as to the thickness is "thin" as opposed to the "thick" early one piece pad.
How thick should they be? I'm considering cutting them from a mud flap from an 18 wheeler, or a rubber mat of similar construction, would these work? Whats left of the originals looks like they might have 3/8"?
The manual also shows what looks like 2 stacked at the bogie. I can't see where this one is.
Thanks guys

I got mine from Curtis and he suggested the thick pads individual pads for my '77 even though my originals were thin. I'm glad I installed his thicker pads.
To my mind a truck mudflap material would be too hard to give you optimum results. I'd suggest the set from Curtis which may be available from Jim Kanomata as well.

Well I ended up cutting a re-enforced 1" rubber hose (left over from macerator project) and using that for pads. Its only 3/16" thick, but better than nothing! There were 3 missing on the driver's side and one at the front on the passenger side.
I used a bottle jack to raise the body stringer which I though would make quick work of the installation even without removing the tie-down brackets. I was amazed that it would only open about 1/16" of an inch. I was afraid I'd bend or twist the body shell.
I managed to wedge 2 in about 1/2 way and the one in front of the generator maybe 1/3 the way in.
Contrast that to the passenger side, I did not need a jack at all! The gap there was easy to slide it in! Not sure whats going on there.
The originals were 3/8" measured where they were never squished, I think they were maybe replaced about '95 when a major redo was done by a PO.
Since the bolts through the floor are likely to be seized, has anyone tried losing the bracket on the frame side? Might take some cussing to get the bolts back in but might be easier to get off.
I think I'll wait till I can arrange to use a pit to try this again!
