Hi,
When I was at a dump site, found that my macerator wouldn't power on.
Turned out that the inline fuse was melted into the fuse holder!
I realized that I had the engine on, refrig on DC, headlights on, backup camera on, xm radio on, water pump on. Would that heave done it?
I bought this from the late Denny Allen in 2007.
Anyone know what size the fuse was? Or do I need a bigger fuse?

Bought mine is 2002. ( The very first thing I added to my GMC. No
slinky?! Heck yeah!) and had the same thing happen a couple years ago.
If the fuse is hot enough to melt the plastic holder that means
"resistance". Usually a bad connection or two. Maybe even between the
fuse and the holder.
I checked my wiring over and found no obvious problems. Rather than
just throw another fuse in there I replaced it with a 20A resetting
circuit breaker.
A bigger fuse won't do you any good. It'll get just as hot unless you
figure out why it's getting hot.

I Hate in-line fuses..... Particularly when hidden in the harness and undocumented (a lot of strange stuff shows up on 30yo boats).
Ernie,
The fuse did not blow, so it is the right rating or at least not too low. What you had was a chummy and corroded fuse holder. What you really need to is either fuse the power lead at the source (best idea) or find a GOOD fuse holder. Go to a real electrical supply place and get one rated for 30 amp made of Bakelite - it will probably be by Bussman or Shawmut.

Ditch the tubular (AGC-type) fuses and holders
and replace with the blade-type (ATM/ATC).

Well, if it melted the holder it means that it got pretty hot before blowing. I wouldn't think that you would need a larger fuse.
What probably happened is that the fuse holder didn't hold the fuse tightly and it likely had a poor connection. That would cause a high resistance and it would heat up. I suggest that you purchase a new fuse holder that holds a spade connector type fuse. Either that or buy a circuit breaker that will trip and then reset itself when it cools.
Here is a picture of one:

Not only NAPA but almost all auto parts stores will have one.
I would think that 20 amps would be plenty for your macerator.
