I just bought a coach that has 6 aluminum wheels. We'll need another one for a spare.
Now that I'm looking though, I can't tell the Eagle from the Alcoa wheels on the AppliedGMC site.
So what, if anything, is different about them? I suppose it doesn't matter much for a spare,
but it'd be nice to know.
thanks,
Karen

I believe the mounting bolts are different. If they are Alcoas they will have a washer made on the open end nut. If they are Eagles they will have a shouldered blind hole nut as a mag wheel. If you get the wrong type for a spare, just make sure you get 8 fasteners that go with the wheel.

Karen,
The lug nut is the fastest way to tell.
If it is a black painted nut with cover, it is Alcoa.
American Eagles are Chromed nut

Karen,
If they turn out to be Alcoa's be sure to check if they fall under a recall. If so, I understand Alcoa replaces the wheels.
Someone who knows about the details is bound to chime in.

Thanks all for the information. I'll guess these are Alcoa's since they were put on some time ago.
I haven't seen the coach myself yet, so might have to wait until we get to it.
Not sure if this picture is good enough to tell, but it's all I have:

They look to have Alcoa stickers. I have not seen an American wheel with a sticker.

It is Alcoa.

I have alcoa's on our coach. Bought 6 up front figuring the old steel wheel would make a good spare. Eventially that spare got to old to use, so I used one of the old tires on the coach when I got my next set of tires...then I had to have a aluminum wheel (16") for that tire. The Eagles are cheaper and since it was at the spare location I figured most would not notice the difference. Problem now is that you have to carry a whole set of lug nuts for the Eagle, and a socket that fits the nuts just for that one wheel. If I had it to over, I'd buy the Alcoa and be done with it...not have to worry about having the nuts and socket, and wonder where it is when you have to put the spare on....JMHO
Actually, now that Eagles are an option, if I were changing from steel to aluminum, I'd buy the Eagles...7 of them.

Pete,
I believe Applied is the only place to get the Hubcentric Version. I however got the standard ones at Discount Tire here in Michigan. The wheel price was the same but since Applied is on the west coast and I'm in MIchigan, buying locally saved me over $200.00 by not having to pay shipping.
FWIW, If you are really set on being hubcentric, get the standard wheel and use some brass shim stock in the bore for a tight fit to the hub. I got mine from McMaster Carr.
The standard Eagle Wheel Part number is 0589-7688-2-AA
