Greetings,

I found this information on the net. Are these torque specs accurate? I don't know if they would be different for a motorhome as opposed to on Olds Toronado.

I figured it was possible that the settings could possibly be higher for some components. So you know, I've removed the steering assembly and everything up to and including the control arms.

Thanks.

Do you have a GMC Motorhome workshop manual appropriate for your year model
MH? All the correct torque specs can be found there. They are still
available from Cinnabar on paper, and DVD from GMCnet member(s).

Scott, James is right. You really need the manuals in some form rather than relying on information given on this forum. A lot of what you get can be opinion without a valid basis. Don't get me wrong, no one would purposely give bad info but we sometimes leave things out and get things in the wrong order.

The DVD is preferable (and it is Tom Lins that supplies it). Tom scanned the
pages of original documents in grayscale, so the photos in the manual are
all clear. The hard-copy version that is available is a photocopy and all
the photos have turned to a black splotch. Also, the perfect binding on the
hard copy is not durable and mine is in pieces. With the DVD version, you
can print out the pages you need when you need them, and not worry about
greasy fingerprints or oil spots.

I ordered the DVD about a month ago from Tom Lins (NJ). I had the manual in
three days. Lot's of good info. Can't remember the price, but worth every
penny. I especially like being able to print just the pages you need for
the project at hand, and if they happen to get grease, oil, anti-freeze,
power steering/transmission fluid, brake fluid or some undetermined
droppings from the black tank - you can toss them and print them again.

Scott,

I think comparing the 455 engine specs is like pushing on a string. Lots of work with no results. If you have a relative new original engine the original specs are correct. An older high mileage engine will probably not be correct. Any alterations or rebuilds will be better or worse depending on woh did the work and any modifications they did.

Right - ya gotta have the manual, one way or another. A common response to questions on other forums is RTFM. The folks here are too kind and refined to state that but it is still good advice to Read The Manual.

And it is good to remember that all statements seen on the net/forum, unless backed up by by very good solid test results or OVERWHELMING experience, is really a statement of JWID.
