Not all GM finished coaches had 50A cords-73-early 75 had 30 A.

Dave,
If you mean all GM finished early 73 through early 75 only had 30 amp cords I have to disagree. My early 74 Canyonlands and my neighbor's early 74 Eleganza both have 50 amp. Maybe I misunderstood you message.

When at Bean Station working on my generator we turned on everything two Ac plus loading up the inside it pulled just under 30 AMPs. My hot water heater draws 10 AMPs when heating the water. It is not the original hot water heater (tri-mpode). The starting load of two AC and the hot water heater could push the 30 AMPs if anything else was running. So I would except a 30 AMP might be marginal. 50 AMP is over kill. Some have put 30 AMPS in the 6KW generator with on problems. I installed a 40AMP in my generator just to be safe. As far as I am concern plugging and unplugging to switch between generator and external power is not a problem and will not fail as I have read has happened to transfer switches.

Did you mean the circuit breaker mounted on the Onan
or something else?

My late '73 - 23' has a 50Amp cable and two 40amp circuits. I guess I could run the AC, the water heater, the microwave and the 58" plasma screen and still be able to weld (with small rod).
