Hey,

Herm Beeck just posted on the EFI Google group that Paul Bartz is
in the hospital for open heart surgery. Does anyone have any
details?

Certainly hope all goes well for Paul. He's one of the great guys with a lot
of miles in a TZE.

Thanks for the information. I'll be thinking of him and his family. CC is a
good place to be for cardiac situations.

Jim,

Thank you for letting us know about Paul & his upcoming heart surgery. I will send him an Ecard from Int'l. Lanny had a triple bypass last Dec., so we know what he & Josie are facing. They're in our hearts & prayers.

Hi Billie:

Was air evacted from from Kalamazoo MI early last Friday morning, arriving at the Cleveland Clinic about 1:30 AM and taken to the ICU. Moved to the Cardiac floor yesterday afternoon.

Had a PET scan today, which showed no scar tissue from the "widow maker" heart attack I supposedly had subsequent to the heart caturazation I had last Thursday afternoon.

I'm scheduled for surgery Wednesday. The left descending artery is 100% blocked and the right and left Coronary are 75% blocked.

I have no trouble getting up and walking to the bathroom. Staff and food have been outstanding here.

Paul

Air evacuation! Were they trying to get your attention? I reckon it worked.

No scar tissue? You're among the fortunate and I'll continue praying you
remain so, especially with regards to a speedy recovery.

Glad you chimed in here.

Paul,
Even though I have only talked with you one time, I wish you the best. The fact you are in a medical facility and under apparently good care should provide some excellent results. My father had a quad by-pass some 9 years ago at age 80 and is still going strong. I'm hoping for similar results for you.

Since talking to you a few years back I found a bearing tool with the Gil bar adapter and everything went just fine as I followed the instruction manual you published.... thanks!

I look forward talking to you again, so get well.

Paul,

You've sure got a lot of friends! Best wishes for the speedy recovery.
I have a friend who is a brilliant motor mechanic and he had to have a
triple. I asked him if he told his doctor that he races late model
modifieds on the local dirt track.

He said that he did and that the doctor replied, "Good. You'll be even
better at it when we're done..."

Here's to you, even better.

I just got off the telephone with Paul from his room at the Cleveland Clinic. He will probably be reading this message on his iPhone later today.

He is in good spirits and they have him up and walking around. His surgery is scheduled for either tomorrow morning or mid-day. It all depends on how the schedules for other surgeries go.

They have about 8,000 patients there and employ about 40,000 people so its a huge place.

Paul will be in the recovery area for about 2 days after surgery and then be moved to a room and will then stay in the hospital for about a week before he can return home.

Josie is with him, staying in a nearby motel, and his children and grandchildren have been visiting from Michigan.

I know that he has many friends on the GMCnet that are wishing him well and will be waiting to hear how things are going. I will check in with Josie on Thursday and post back here with how he is doing.
