Seems like I go from one project to another without being able to finish the first one. This one is number one priority though.
With all of the rain in the last two weeks, I got tired of cleaning up the water in the Coach. The leak is the same one that I have battled since I purchased the Coach last year. The Refrig Vent which was a home made thing and not well made. I finally removed it completely and am in the process of repairing all of the holes the PO's drilled up there. Plan on using one piece of Aluminum to cover the whole thing.
Wish I knew how to flush rivet but since I do not, I plan on pre drilling the sheet on the Drill press, holes on 2 inch centers.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Richard,
I have a Marson pop rivet kit I bought years ago from Snap-On. It came with
a countersink double ended drill bit.
Marson 200 kit.
The replacement countersink bit is part number D-120.Makes for nice clean
riveting.

Will install one of the low profile vents that I saw at Sirums, The Refrig is only Electric now, removed all LP from the Coach, so I only have 12 and 120V.
Use 4 T-105 Trojans for House. Have not had a problem yet. The Refrig will freeze cold drinks stored in the door at a 7 setting on 120. The 12V is only used while unplugged and driving, seems to work just dandy.

Heh, I would love to be able to use any one of those, however if you look at the pictures, there are three separate holes that I have to cover. One of those is the Original, not sure which one and then the other two were most likely cut in by PO's. The total area to cover is almost 3'X30". The one round hole is less than 1" from the gutter. Not real pretty, so I thought it best to cover the whole thing and then cut in a new vent as high up on the roof as possible and still be over the Refrig Cabinet.
It might be that I could cover the two bottom holes and use the top one for the vent. I kind of think it was the original.
Still thinking on it.

Gene, the way we camp hot water is always available, first it stays hot for hours after driving, then we always plug in. We have not yet Dry Camped, and do not plan too. We do love our Corp of Engineer Campsites.

Flush rivets aren't a big deal if you're willing to do the "mandrel" style.
McMaster-Carr sells any size you could want and the countersink, too.
You'll spend less than $40 on 100 rivets and countersink.
It goes a lot better with Cleco connectors, though. False rivets you
install as you drill holes. Very handy.
My refer access door was an oddball. Don't think it was early GMC, either.
Kinda cobbled in. I had to add some material to retrofit a newer door.
I'll get pictures up later. I don't actually have any of the finished mod
yet...

Been trying to message you but kept getting FATAL ERROR messages from the GMCnet.
Ok, Look at some of the brochures. The position of the refer cap is normally by the gutter, minus the round hole you have.
The hole above the body of the frig is not good for cooling the frig. Might be ok if you have enough room for venting to the room above the frig with a air vent up there but you have to block from the area that vents the frig coils.
The vent for the frig coils needs to be directly above the coils. If you try to make the warm air bend to the side, it will waffle and become stagnent. Warm air does not move all that well on its own anyway.
West maring sellss a round vent with a solar powered fan, about 6-7 " hole. If that interests you., but it still needs to be above the frig coils, not the frig body....

thinking about making a duct and installing a new vent just above the Porch light. Somewhat like the Vent for the Stove on the Drivers side.

Funny you should mention that.
When I bought Gatsbys' CRUISER  , she did not have any upper cabinets. Yup, PO took em all out. I bought the vent that opens when the fan is turned on ( love it ) and used two muffin type fans for the forced airflow.
They work well because they are thin and can be attached to the face of the vent, with a little home spun ducting.
If you do this, the coil for the vent will be on all the time, not a big problem if at a campground all the time, but if booning, will be a power usage.
But on the brighter side, they do sell solar operated fans that could be very helpful. Using the sun for power would keep power usage down. But then, there is nighttime use????
The West marine vent I mentioned before uses solar for fan use but will still allow some ventilation when the fan stops. I think it has a B/U battery for night time running too.
