What length external cable can reasonably be stuffed in the external electrical hatch of a stock GMC?

Are there reasonable hacks to increase the capacity?

(I'm always 5' short of what I need.)

Dave (now at Ten Mile Lake, near Walker, MN)

PS saw a nice canaryish yellow GMC parked at Nisswa, MN on MN 371.

PPS I want to thank a PO for whatever was done to prevent vapor lock on this machine - yesterday's stop & go traffic on new black asphalt in 90+ plus ethanoled gas; a formula for vaporlock!

I don't think that I could stuff much more cable than supplied with the coach into the little side pocket that holds the OEM 50a cable. However, since it is a.c., one can always use an extension cord. 50a extensions are expensive, so you could assemble a "break out" box, separate the 2 legs, and use 2 heavy duty extension cables (one on each side) and attack the problem that way. Others have done different plug and cable arrangements for this problem. If you have a 30 amp coach, it is easier. 30 amp rated extension cables are readily available.
I know that this did not directly answer the question, but this is my answer to the problem. I think that my OEM cable is 25 t. long.
Lots of copper, and high priced.
Then, all you have to do is find somewhere to hide the cable.

I carry a red 50 foot RV 30 amp extension cable but I keep it inside the coach under the fridge when traveling. I only have a few feet in the outside electrical hatch. I think I paid around $50. for it on sale. I keep it rolled up with bungee cords with a ball on them. Don't know what you call them but they work slick. The electrical box seems pretty full as it is with adapters, Onan cable, etc.
