Ok, the saga continues. the local exhaust shops estimate came in way over my
budget, so I'm either driving to Cincinnati or now i'm pondering doing it in
the driveway.
I've seen some fabricated Y pipes that some have you have fabricated, so I'm
wondering if I could just use one of these:

Thank you in advance for you advice/wisdom.

Have you considered buying the system from Jimmy K.? I tried putting my own system together, by buying parts here and there. It was a real hassle, and don't think I saved enough to justify the troubles. If I had to do it again, I'd just buy the system from Jimmy, It's engineered to fit correctly right up front. Take it out of the box and bolt it in place....end of story. JMHO

I'd second the above suggestion. JimK's system bolted right in with my coach up on jack stands. The hardest part was changing out the original exhaust manifolds for the Thorley headers. If you want to keep the original exhaust manifolds, the system is available that way as well.

the OEM type "Y" pipe is a true Y shape. the one you posted would work but you will have to weld up some elbows to make it fit.
good luck,

I appreciate all the advice. I've convinced myself that with all the
pictures and advice available, I'm going to do this myself. My honey-do list
is empty, so this will be something for me to do next week.
I budget a $1,000 a year for improvements in the coach, and I've only
exceeded that once (by only $3,000 during a complete DIY renovation), so my
budget is cheap cheap cheap.
I've never welded before, so there's no time like the present to learn!
;o)
I'll be at Du Quoin, and will enjoy the drive without the sound of leaky
exhaust manifold gaskets!!!!

It's not too hard as long as you don't have a rear grey tank like my Royale.
CarQuest carries Elbows and tubing cheap.
Tubing I remember being $7.xx a foot, you need like 14 feet to do the main pipe and the dog leg.
It's not stainless and im sure it tales more work that Jims kit, but I like doing things myself.
I used 3 3" elbows, they are mandrel bent and come with 1 end expanded so you can just slip the pipe together and then clamp or weld.
I use 2.5" from the collectors to the Y. It's not a perfect straight shot, but close. I plan on using 2 of the flexible couplings when I get time...
The Y is 22 degrees if I remember right, I put it on one of the pictures in the album
The rear flowmaster 70 requires moving some metal around, but you can get it in there

FWIW, it will cost more to do this, but I'd use the SS band type clamps instead of standard "U" muffler clamps to put it together. Since my initial instal, I've had my system apart a couple of times. (seems i can't do anything just once) Using the band type clamps, when you loosen the bolts, the system will just fall apart. With the "U" type clamps, it can be a SOB (and I don't mean some other brand) to take apart because the clamp relies on crushing the pipe to create a seal, making the pipes very difficult to pull apart. Been there, done that too many times. Spend the extra...use the bands. JMHO
Also, I was able to put the muffler in the rear of my Royale, but I think my gray tank is smaller than the original. See this:

and other photos in that album.

Leigh Harrison also has a complete exhaust system available on his web site. It is a duplicate of the OEM design, with the addition of a 3" pipe running down to the rear. All mandrel bends, and a spot for O2 sensor. It mates to the stock exhaust headers. He also includes the S.S. band clamps. After installing his system, and using the band clamps, I will never go to the other clamping system.

So far, it looks like buying local is going to be inexpensive. 16' of 3" is
only $50.
I'm also looking at putting on two of the flexible connectors. Do you have a
supplier for them?
thanks!

My tank was closer to the muffler than your heat shield...
As far as the flex couplings, I bet Car Quest has them...
I've seen smaller versions at O'Rielies, Probably available at summit, jegs and Speedway too
