A little while ago I read either an ad or an article about a new type of plumbing trap that is straight and can be installed at any angle instead of the traditional P-trap. I am interested in using one but cannot find the information. Does anyone know where I can find info on it?

Armand
There was one in the New Products section of a recent FMCA magazine --
perhaps two months ago. I will try to find it this evening if someone
else hasn't already posted.

The item shown in this website is a strainer, not a trap and is not a substitute for a trap. It is an additional item, the trap is still needed.
I can't open the FMCA link so I don't know if that is the same thing.

G'day,
Yep I have had one of those HepVO valves for a couple of years now.
When we purchased our GMC it had a side dry bath, one of the desirables on Gail's list.
When we had got it home I tried it out properly and didn't like it, way too small, I'm 6'2".
So we ripped the whole bathroom out and built one to the side at the rear,the bed is on the other side.
By using the HepVO I was able to put my shower base on the floor, giving us a good sized full height shower that we love to use.
I have mounted the HepVO valve under the floor about 4"to the side of the shower drain and then plumbed it to the tank, never had a problem with it.

I have two places where I might be able to use the waterless trap. I am putting a nine inch deep sink in the new kitchen cabinet I am building and I don't know if I have room to use the standard P-trap. The shower drain p-trap is sunk into the floor in a fiberglass bowl that comes out into the hallway and will interfere with the new floor that I will be installing. I am thinking that if I replace the p-trap I might be able to at least reduce the size of the bowl and get it out of the hallway.

Armand,
If your goal is to get the trap out of your sink cabinet, you could do what Fin Bevin did during his galley remodel:
<http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=24238&title=galley-08-3-trap-1-of-1-&cat=6>
This looks looks a good idea and will give you more space under there.
