Good Morning

Well, I found some trim that goes on the coach that works great for the Birch Screen Door and I installed the door last night.

I expected this to be a HUGE job and was prepared for the worst, but the whole job took about 1 1/2 hours.

I had previously installed the hinge plates to the door, so that was a good head start.

I modified the door plate per the instructions and pop riveted on the adapter plate.

Put the new trim on the door frame and the rubber back on the new door adapter plate.

I re-curved the door to fit my coach, just by putting the door on saw horses and slightly bending the frame in the right places.

Lined it up and pop riveted the door to the hinges.

It opened and closed like crap, so I took some wood blocks and a big honk'in rubber mallet and wailed on the hinge plates in all different directions and positions until it opened and closed perfect.

Closed the main door, made a couple of more minor adjustments with the good ole mallet and DONE.

I've heard of people working entire days to get these to work...... I think the key is to not be afraid of it and just do what you have to do to make it work. Bend the hinge plates, etc. until everything aligns right.

I'll post pictures and more info on the trim that I found later.

Ray

Great news, Ray!

Sounds like we need to see the video, though. Pictures are worth a thousand
words, but videos are worth millions!

Ray,
Be sure and have the sound turned on while making the video.
Cussing will not be allowed. You said it took some people
days. How about weeks? It still doesn't fit like I would like it to.
You have all that experience, maybe I can get you to adjust
it at Du Quoin Convention. Ha! Ha!

May be too late for a video, it's done, but let me think about it. I will definitely take pictures and explain what I did.

I just usually have the attitude that it's going to work the way I want it or I'm going to wreck it trying. To me it was pretty straight forward, bend, twist, adjust, USE A BIG HAMMER, etc.

I can remember you telling me that after you installed yours, you opened the door and it jumped out of the door frame about a full inch on the top half and was way out of alignment. Mine did the exact same thing, then I got out the wood and mallet and showed the hinge plates who was boss, didn't take much to persuade them how they were supposed to work ! LOL

I really like the new door seal that I found that goes on the coach, I'm anxious to show it to the group. I had to purchase 125 ft of it, so I'll definitely have some available to sell to others if interested. I will also pass on the source and part number to the Jim's and Bob Burkitt (sp) so they can get setup and provide it if they are interested.
