Have looked for the Oil Pressure and Water Temp sending units, believe I have them identified but would like to be certain.
There is a sending unit on the upper front left of the engine, beside the T Stat housing (Water Temp?), as well as another sending unit just below it on the front of the engine and is dome shaped (Oil Pressure?).
What is/are these two sending units?

On the Right side of the engine opposite what I think is the water temp unit there is a plug, believe it was for a TVS?. Can this location be used for a new Water Temp sending unit?

For installing the Voltmeter, the instructions tell me to connect to the "Brown" wire from the Alternator. Heh, I do not have a brown wire coming from my Alt. Hints appreciated.

Lastly, On our Coaches, do we have Positive or Negative Dimmer control for our Instrument lights?

I do have the Manuals on CD, however, I am not too swift when it comes to reading Elect Diagrams. I am pretty good about following Instructions though.

Thanks much for helping me on this project. Do not have my Lower Panel yet but hope to get it next week from Mr. Jenkins.

Richard,

Yes, you have correctly identified the waer temp and oil pressure senders. Yes, you can add a sensor where the TVS was previously installed.

Here is a picture from JSharpes album..

Don't know the answers to your electrical questions.

I have read the Instructions for the Voltmeter incorrectly.
Cannot remember where I read about the "Brown wire" anyway, please disregard the question about wiring the Voltmeter. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Richard, The big wire that attaches to the post on the back of the ac generator (alternator) is the output. If you want to know the voltage of the output, connect to this terminal. Or as an alternate location the center terminal on the isolator.

While waiting for the new lower Panel from Frank Jenkins, I have run several of the lines/hoses and find that I do not like the way they are exposed to possible damage from a broken fan belt.
Have wire tied a length of 1 inch PVC to the upper Radiator Hose and plan on using it for a conduit for these lines/hoses.
Have drilled a new access hole near the gas pedal and will route all of these lines through it.
Used the Gauge holder that came with the gauges as a temporary mount. Sure glad I ordered the lower panel, it will make for a much nicer install. Pictures at; http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5497

Received my lower panel this morning. After some grinding to fit, boring the holes for the gauges and some paint I am really pleased with this setup.
I did as Gene suggests, installed hinge points along the bottom edge to make servicing easier.

Yes, I used a 2" Forstner bit in my Drill Press, then a round file to get a tight fit.

GREAT START
now - since wiring behind the dash is such a pain in the Butt....

I used this panel to do all my connections to , batteries, switches, etc,
what ever goes to the dash from the rest of the coach.

since I needed lots of terminal strips, I made 5 position terminal strips
from a power panel ground strip. then mounted them on a wood strip as shown

I really don't know for sure, but I do not think they would.
The reason being the back side of the gauge would not have enuf clearance. These gauges were real tight. Ask Frank Jenkins if he knows.
